I expected to find another milk bottle -> top, but no, it was a cat toy for once! And she's still trying to -> train me to get up in the morning. She gave up this morning and got -> hubby up instead. ;-) We feed ours at night before we go to bed. After they eat, they groom themselves, and come to bed to sleep for most of the night....they don't wake us up early demanding food that way! :-) --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Kitty's Keep BBS * 714-871-2227 * Fullerton, CA * (1:103/441.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F2V00029 Date: 02/25/98 From: MISS KITTY Time: 10:49pm \/To: DIANNE ROBBINS (Read 0 times) Subj: RE: BITING -> Hmmm...could be. Does anything work to get the critters to not bite? -> I'm going crazy trying to come up with ideas to teach Honey how to -> behave right and not eat my wrists and ankles. I hate the thought of -> yelling at her, but that has been the only thing that has worked. -> Anything else to try? In these days of "political correctness" I almost hesitate to say it, but a spanking worked wonders to teach my cats the meaning of the word "NO!" I didn't really hit them hard, but they certainly got the message that what they were doing was wrong! I also scared the heck outta them at the same time by hollering "NO!" as I smacked them. It only took once or twice before they got the message, now all I have to do is say "NO!" in a sharp voice and they stop doing whatever it is they are not supposed to be doing....and I haven't spanked them since. Establishing discipline isn't always pretty, but now we live together with an understanding of what is ok and not ok to do.... --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Kitty's Keep BBS * 714-871-2227 * Fullerton, CA * (1:103/441.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F2V00030 Date: 02/25/98 From: MISS KITTY Time: 10:50pm \/To: DIANNE ROBBINS (Read 0 times) Subj: RE: NEW KITTEN -> I took Honey to the vet last week. She is in excellent health. She -> didn't like getting her blood drawn for the feline leukemia test, but -> was a brave kitty. I petted her and cooed her through it. The test -> turned out negative. Yay! I have a healthy and happy baby! She -> has to go back for her second set of shots on the ninth of March. -> Wonder if I can convince her to get back into the cat carrier. Leave it out (with the door open) for a couple of days before the next visit and play with her if she goes in...then she won't be so scared of it... --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Kitty's Keep BBS * 714-871-2227 * Fullerton, CA * (1:103/441.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F2V00031 Date: 02/25/98 From: MISS KITTY Time: 10:51pm \/To: DIANNE ROBBINS (Read 0 times) Subj: RE: CATS' HEALTH -> No doubt! I need to borrow it too. I tried to convince my kitten to -> walk on my back last night, but she didn't make it too far across -> before she found a tantalizing toy to attack across the room. My cat does that too - when he sees something to attack, he launches himself off of my tummy - the problem is that he already weighs in at 20 pounds, so his launch takes the wind outta me! haha --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Kitty's Keep BBS * 714-871-2227 * Fullerton, CA * (1:103/441.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F2V00032 Date: 02/25/98 From: MISS KITTY Time: 10:51pm \/To: DIANNE ROBBINS (Read 0 times) Subj: RE: LOSS -> MK> I have been owned by the sweetest, biggest, and dumbest -> MK> mackeral tabby for the last 7 years. I adopted my first cat -> as a grown up and had her spayed. I have a kitten now and am -> hearing horror stories. What on earth happens? When does it start? -> What can I do about it? You should take her in right before 6 months. Some kittens can actually go into heat before that, so if she starts meowing like crazy and arching her back really high when you pet her tail area, she's in heat! The horror stories you've heard probably involve all the howling the cat does when she's in heat. It's pretty awful! The neighbors complain if you live in an apartment! hahaha Anyway, going intoheat is not life-threatening in any way, it's just loud and can result in a houseful of kitties that will need homes....get her spayed before that happens...:-) --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Kitty's Keep BBS * 714-871-2227 * Fullerton, CA * (1:103/441.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F2V00034 Date: 02/25/98 From: MISS KITTY Time: 10:58pm \/To: DIANNE ROBBINS (Read 0 times) Subj: RE: KITTENS -> I had my first cat declawed because I had no idea what took place. I -> thought they just trimmed the nails. I didn't know they cut out the -> bones. That's what most people think... -> Declawing is illegal in England. Obviously it has to be a -> horrid experience. Well, it's time to let yourself off the hook. Tell as many people as you know about what declawing really is, and maybe by preventing other cats from going through it, you'll feel better about KD....
