TM> (sorry about spelling) Your spelling looks fine to me. As for your question, my answer is YES! In addition to reducing his risk of some forms of cancer, you'll eliminate the risk that he'll pull an escape to go after a female in heat (this DOES happen!), and you'll make such unpleasant habits as spraying MUCH less likely (or even eliminate such). I have any pet spayed or neutered. The only exception would be if I were actively planning to breed that animal (which is unlikely at best for me). Seanette ... Paw prints on the ceiling. I think she is jealous of the kittens Ac> what can i do to make her like the kittens again? How old are the kittens? Human perception has come up with this theory about feline motherhood: Cats have kittens and nurture them until the mama feels the kits can take care of themselves at which point the mama expects the kittens to do just that...leave and take care of themselves, and leave her alone. To encourage this, mama will force the kittens to keep their distance by becoming aggressive toward them. (The process is slightly different in multi-cat communities.) We find this disconcerting, but normal. Ignore it. You can't force her to like them, all you can do is give her the same amount of attention you gave her before the kittens were born. I've had the experience of having three generations in the house at the same time, and after a while the cats established their own pecking order. My case was thus: Alki begat Robin and Sarah; Sarah begat Porsche and Sebastion. Alki remained the top cat her entire life; she ran the house with an iron claw. She apparently tolerated Sarah, Porsche and Sebastion to greater and lesser degrees; but she hated Robin. Robin seemed to tolerate everybody...except the impossible Alki. Sebastion was the favored son in the house, everybody cleaned and pampered him. Sarah and Robin got along (except when Sarah was carrying her two). Porsche was a loner, but closer to Sebastion, her littermate, than to anybody else. The household pecking order for my 5 was Alki, Sarah, Sebastion, Porsche and Robin. Nothing I did made any difference in their little cat society. When Sarah gave birth to her two, Robin moved to a position in our little house as far away from Sarah's nest as possible while staying in line-of-sight and commenced to growl constantly. Sarah ignored his behavior until she was able to confidently leave the kitten box area for the first time and the only thing she did was to storm Robin's little stronghold and beat the crap out of him. Robin's growling stopped there and then. :I Nothing *we* did discouraged Robin from gowling; not petting, not reassuring, not feeding, not punishment...and if we moved him from his spot, he returned there as soon as he was free. ... . 0-m ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Maximus/2 2.02 * Origin: The Funny Papers * Lodi, NJ * (973)478-8476 (1:2604/104)
