I leave it on just enough MK> to drip a little and keep the water fresh. The MK> cats love it! When our latest three died all of a sudden and we were thinking over our options (cats vs no cats), we came up with a list of mistakes we weren't going to make if we did get another "cat." And we stuck to our guns when we got Jenny. We gave her water in a bowl, kept it always fresh. She got only cat food, did get to smell what we eat, but no tasting. We got friends to instill fear of the outdoors by causing commotions on the porch thereby we avoid the kitty soccer problem at the front door. She got a specially designed/built scratching post. We didn't encourage her to sleep with us and provided a really nice nest/bed for her which she uses. She was seemed happy to accept these things and not test the waters of our plates or bed or outdoors, and tho she liked to lounge in the sink, she did not drink from it. Then came the Swarm. As soon as they could get into the sink, they discovered a drip and will yowl incessantly if it's absent...that part of Jenny's upbringing went for naught. Kitty see, kitty do. The other "rules" still apply, and for all of them, but they broke the water barrier. ... . 0-m ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Maximus/2 2.02 * Origin: The Funny Papers * Lodi, NJ * (973)478-8476 (1:2604/104) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: EFW00026 Date: 11/26/97 From: JO PESHEK Time: 11:51am \/To: SUSAN MITCHELL (Read 0 times) Subj: neutering SM> ...I had to scrub that apron *multiple* times to SM> get it clean. And I mean scrub. Hard. With a SM> brush. On my knees. I don't know how this would work on brick, but I found that Surf (original formula) takes out cat urine smell, assisted somewhat by a rinse in vinegar. I know this because Robin, although he was neutered at 6 months, sprayed his entire life, freely and frequently, and on EVERYTHING. Our vet-at-the-time put him on female hormones to stop the behavior, and it did, but then he gained an inordinate amount of weight...so I'd take him off the pills and he'd thin out and return to spraying, back on the hormone to fatten up and not spray, off the pill...well, it wasn't a pretty cycle. That was about 10 years ago and I understand vets don't employ that particular remedy anymore. SM> Think globally, act locally. SM> Susan SM> (hi, Jo, remember me?) Of course!!! *HUG* How you been? Roscoe is particularily a problem with it as he will knock over a drink if he can, just to dip a paw in the spill then quietly lick his paw clean. Took us ages to break him of that habit!
