Since the last time I net-mailed somebody outside the UK fido monumentally screwed-up (Dave Shea got 200+ copies of the same message at the last count) I have given up sending netmail abroad. However, it was in a zipped archive with id.diz that called the contents something like the QB scrapbook (being made up of files posted in this echo some years ago). The actual name of the file was something like QBSCRAP.ZIP. As you've got inet access you can probably find it at one of the ftp sites like CDROM. Sorry I can't be more helpfull. Ofcourse the linker that came BVD> with Prolog can't handle quick libraries so I used the one that came BVD> with qb. Should I have linked a qb library to it as well? I think I know what is happening. This is a common symptom when trying to use libraries written in other languages (esp. non-Microsoft languages). Sometimes the language would create calls in the .OBJ files that are specific to that compiler, and not include the code to those. For example, if you wrote this in QB: CLS PRINT "Hello World" The .OBJ file would include calls to a routine called "CLS" and a routine called "PRINT", and not the actual code to clear the screen. These are included in one of the QB LIBs, and only QB's linker would understand them. If you try to compile and link it with a Borland product, for example, it would give you similar errors that you came up with (ie. "unresolved externals" or if using a Borland .LIB or .OBJ in QB, it would say something similar to what you experienced). To make an EXE or LIB, you'd need the language it was written in, and even then, the LIB still may not work in QB. Unfortunately, I know of no way around this, other than to make your own routines for the calls that are unresolved, and compile them in the .OBJ as well - sort of having to re-write the lanugage, which is no better. FWIW, for a better chance at using external libs in QB, it's best to make hem in Microsoft Quick C (even then you may have some problems with external calls, but not as often as you would with a Borland product). Do read my message to ALL on Microsoft's official word on QB distribution. I'm including some places you may want to check and see if they have QB still. May be expensive, though. Microsoft doesn't have replacement disks anymore for QB, and they really don't want MS stuff distributed anywhere, even posting a .BI file. IOW, if you lose your copy, your out of luck. :( I am going to try and see if MS can do something about providing at least on-demand manufacturing of older software but I don't expect to get any headway.
