It dials, connects -> and negotiates but doesn't allow anything beyond that. What is funny -> is that DOIP works fine and allows me access to anything -> on the internet. -> -> I have not setup (knowingly) anything but basic components for -> accessing the internet via modem. -> -> Please help, this is driving me a little nuts. No advice, just empathies. I've had the same experiences with In-joy from the beginning. DOIP works, but In-joy does as you say, negotiates (unsuccesfully) and then, nada. I've tried about every combination of settings (except the one that works), with Warp4 FP1-4. Doesn't matter if it's a PAP or text script connection, same result. So, I'm also eagerly awaiting any responses that you might get :( Rgds, Stewart --- PCBoard (R) v15.4 (OS/2) 10 Beta * Origin: The Chili Channel * Manila, Philippines * Fidonet (6:751/222) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 273 OS/2 INTERNET Ref: EGZ00004 Date: 12/29/97 From: CHARLES BOWMAN Time: 09:37pm \/To: STEWART BUCKINGHAM (Read 2 times) Subj: DOIP <-> In-Joy Stewart Buckingham wrote in a message to Charles Bowman: SB> So, I'm also eagerly awaiting any responses that you might SB> get :( You and I should both be happy men now. The solution was so simple (once it was identified) that I wanted to bang my head on the desk. Now you and I can use In-Joy and be happy.. That brings up another question, In-Joy has one of those stepped registration schemes that I can never figure out. Anybody know what the most practical one to get for somebody that might want to use the IP forwarding for a networked Win95 machine? cbowman@sinfo.net --- * Origin: The Jungle Panama City, Panama (4:920/70) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 273 OS/2 INTERNET Ref: EGZ00005 Date: 12/29/97 From: WILL HONEA Time: 09:36pm \/To: STEWART BUCKINGHAM (Read 2 times) Subj: DOIP <-> In-Joy 12-28-1997,Stewart Buckingham wrote to Charles Bowman: SB> Hi Charles, SB> SB> -> Had the strangest thing happen this weekend, I did a virgin SB> -> re-installation of Warp 4 w/FP5 and now I can't access anything using SB> -> my previously working In-Joy setup. You might also just delete \mptn\etc\resolv - that also seems to work. Another funny with a new install is that some sequences set the ETC environment variable differently in the DOS autoexec.bat and the config.sys. The one in config.sys should be correct and they should match. The one WH> in config.sys should be correct and they should match. Very good point also. I just recently discovered the same thing. Had to adjust my Autoexec.bat. Anyone with a LAN that's working fine in an OS/2 window (as far as name resolution is concerned especially) but is having trouble with name resolution in a DOS session probably has this problem. I did. Also, I've noticed that if you install your internet stuff (ADAPTER 0 - NONE) first your %etc% variable is set to \tcpip\etc. If you install your real LAN adapter first your %etc% variable is set to \mptn\etc. Doesn't really matter as long as (as you say) the DOS and the OS/2 sessions match. -Frank (fsexton@ibm.net - http://www.concentric.net/~fsexton) --- Blue Wave/OS2 v2.30 * Origin: Wildcard BBS,Thornton,CO HST/V34+ +1-303-252-0491 (1:104/725) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 273 OS/2 INTERNET Ref: EG^00001 Date: 12/30/97 From: CHARLES BOWMAN Time: 11:45am \/To: LAWRENCE LUCIER (Read 2 times) Subj: DOIP <-> In-Joy Lawrence Lucier wrote in a message to David Calafrancesco: DC> You forgot to recreate the resolv2 file as DOIP creates one on DC> the fly but InJoy expects it to be there already. Might be something to that, I'm using In-Joy 1.12b dated June 97. Could very well be that the earlier versions didn't need it or I somehow managed to leave those little bits on the system. cbowman@sinfo.net --- * Origin: Techshop's Southern Most Point - Panama (1:3651/9.10) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 273 OS/2 INTERNET Ref: EG^00002 Date: 12/30/97 From: TIM PEETERS Time: 10:09pm \/To: STEWART BUCKINGHAM (Read 2 times) Subj: DOIP <-> IN-JOY ->> Had the strangest thing happen this weekend, I did a virgin ->> re-installation of Warp 4 w/FP5 and now I can't access anything using ->> my previously working In-Joy setup. For up to 4 or 5 machines in simultaneous use, the $35 level is about right. You run out of table space with too many machines on, but that intermediate level is just fine with my 4 machines in the house. The next step is pretty steep, too, at about $150!
