Appreciate the detailed listing. I'll see if I can get those files now. LN> You should keep in mind that it is not always necessary for a file size o > change to be different. Yep, but noted that the CRC's for the entire archive were unchanged. Highly unlikely if changes have been made even without changing the file sizes. Thanks, Lynn --- FLAME v1.0 * Origin: L.A. WaterGate Message processor for FidoNet and Internet/UseNet Copyright (c) 1993-1997 Waterline Software Development Malmoe, 7 July 1997 Hi WaterGaters! WaterGate version 0.93 has been released into the public! The archive is called WG093.ZIP (1.6Mb) and can be picked up from the usual sites: File request from Ferrari BBS 2:200/111 +46-40-305982 magic name WTRGATE Malmoe, Sweden Also special guest account and direct download from the main menu. File request from Sea of Noise 1:320/42 +1-860-886-1441 magic name WTRGATE Norwich, CT, USA World Wide Web http://www.downcity.com/brazerko/watergate/ Anonymous FTP from ftp.sbbs.se directory /pub/watergate It can be picked up at once from the first three of these sites. I have personally put it there or checked its presence before I sent out this announcement. We are trying to get it on the SBBS ftp server. You might have a better chance at the westsound ftp server (see below). It should be available at the other sites within a few hours to a few days. More sites are listed at the end of this message. An incredible period of almost nine months have past since the release of the previous public version. I am sure that the waiting was worth it because there are loads of new and improved features to enjoy! We have not sat still during these nine months. There have been over 40 pre-releases that were tested by Team WaterGate, which was also formed during the same period. All of this to guarantee that the new features will not explode in your face. The Team has done a very fine job! The changes that have to be mentioned are: * Native, 32 bit OS/2 version of the entire package. Smaller, faster and a lot of available memory! * Gateway supporting MIME messages. No longer those strange hex codes in your messages or equal signs at the end of each line. Accented letters do not loose these accents anymore! * 128 groups instead of just 26. A very simple coding scheme makes it very easy to divide the groups amongst the networks you are a member of. * Support for POP3 mailboxes, both with mail for a single recipient or for an entire network. * BBS Interface for tight and easy integration with the BBS allowing for the same node numbers for the BBS as for WaterGate. Separate inbound and outbound. * Direct support for WildCat message bases, including file decoding, WtrUtil Import, etc. * Tell WaterGate about the users on your BBS via a simple ASCII file and it will automatically import netmails for them into a special area and gated e-mails into another. * List Server can send re-confirmation messages to subscribers with a configurable interval. A simply reply keeps the subscriber listed, while no reply removes the address and keeps the list clean. * News posting is now supported via a so called "mail to news" gateway in addition to the UUCP uplink. * Minimum required machine is now an IBM PC/XT. See CHANGES.TXT in the distribution archive for a comprehensive listing of the changes. I prefer using FTP rather than HTTP for plain file transfers because the HTTP file transfer function apparently still has some known problems with plain file transfers that can mean you lose the lot and have to start again. At least with FTP many servers are now supporting restarts, which can be very handy with large files. I'd agree, in theory, except that installing/updating NS/2 puts changes files all over the place (TIMERxx and/or CLOCKxx come to mind as examples only - there are others), thus my desire to know in detail exactly what the heck it does. It seems as tho each new revision breaks *something* it shouldn't, and restoring from a backup to corrrect the new problems is getting to be a real chore. You wouldn't happen to know of an *individual* on the team one could address with a question, would you?
