I am having a problem getting Real Audio 3.0 to run properly under Win-OS/2. According to Real Audio, it'll work. The problem that I am having is #1 -- The Win-OS/2 session cannot access the sound card drivers. I'm using a SoundBlaster 16 in OS/2 Warp 3.0 w/fixpack 26 installed. Okay, the Win-OS/2 drivers do work, but not in THAT session. Second thing is Winsock.. how do I use Winsock for Win3.1 under OS/2 so that Real Audio can work? Sorry if I seem dumb about this -- it's my first serious attempt to get RA3.0 to run under OS/2. Once I can acheive this, Windows95 is history! So help me get rid of it! The problem that Hi Gary, this won't help with the problems you're experiencing with win/os2 + internet, but it's just my thoughts... After a couple of years fighting it, I finally condeded defeat, and installed Windows 95 (+ os/2 + Linux) in a boot manager setup. I prefer to use os/2 to gather my email, as I think that MR/2 ice is better than Windows email apps, but that's about the only exception. All the really good stuff is written for Windows, including web browsers, irc, news, ftp. Netscape for os/2, for instance... It's at 2.02, although you can use the -3 switch on the command line. Netscape 4.0 pre-releases are out now, very impressive; hell, there's even a Linux version 4.0 out now, identical to the Windows version, but nothing for os/2. I had the same problems with RealAudio at one time, trying to make it work with Netscape for os/2, so why do I have to do a day's worth of fighting and tweaking, when I can just load up a windows browser, and the thing works? Okay, so it crashes from time to time. :) Much as I hate to admit it, the web is designed for the masses. All of us here use os/2, and we like to think of ourselves as 'power users', but there's just too few of us. It's kind of like when I was a kid... I wouldn't consider buying a car with an automatic transmission, those were for pussies. Now, I don't care about the challenge, I just like to drive with one arm rested out the window. *G* Take care, Dana --- FMail/2 1.22+ * Origin: The Peoples' Liberation Front - Tacoma, USA (1:138/179) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 273 OS/2 INTERNET Ref: EAM00002 Date: 06/17/97 From: WAYNE SIEMUND Time: 10:33am \/To: JUSTIN BAUSTERT (Read 3 times) Subj: Netscape/2 -=> Quoting Justin Baustert to Wayne Siemund <=- WS> I thought Netscape/2 v4 was supposed to be released at the same time WS> as version 4 for windoze? First, change directories to the system directory for your copy of Windows (I am using OS/2 3.0 Blue, so that directory is x:\os2\mdos\winos2\system.) Copy the existing winsock.dll to winsock.old. Next copy the OS/2 VDM version of winsock.dll from y:\tcpip\dos\bin to this directory. Now you should be able to run Windows applications that require winsock support. I have my uucp tosser set to allow only the first newsgroup in the newsgroup field to be tosser to the BBS. The rest are send to the bit bucket. Even doing that, I'm seeing dupes. Do you know of a setting in vsoup to prevent or lessen this occurrence?
