Doh! Many years ago, when I was in grad school, burnt out and writing DW stuff rather than term papers, I started some work on "The Power of the Daleks." My first chapter (about all I got written, in fact) was the end of "The Tenth Planet," and I had the Doctor hallucinating as he staggered back to the TARDIS, thinking about his past adventures and companions. This sounds eerily familiar. AS> Then the Doctor receives a telepathic summons from the Master. He AS> "sees" the image of the Daleks about to exterminate the Master, and AS> then is asked to retrieve the remains and transport them home to AS> Gallifrey. It's implied at the end of the exchange that the Doctor AS> plans to sneak onto Skaro without the Daleks noticing, in order to AS> honour the request. Boy, the Doctor's come a long way since his third incarnation, when he'd happily abandon the Master. Or how about his fifth, where he'd go so far as to kill the Master by turning up the gas on him ("Planet of Fire"). Now he'll go pick up the body, eh? I -really- would have liked to have seen more of McCoy and the Master, given McCoy's "even up old scores" personality. I seem to be one of those poor sods that -liked- "Survival." Not so much for the story, no, but for the characterization. Anthony Ainley was -bad- again, not comical like during the Davison era. --- GoldED/W32 3.00.Beta3+ * Origin: Il Vaticano * "Build me a floating zoo..."
