As long as the scripts keep pace, McGann has said recently that he doesn't want to be involved should this get going. I forget all the details but it had something to do with the response of the fans, specifically the female ones. I don't remember all the details here, and I might be remembering something wrong, so please keep that in mind. One thing I am sure about is that he aid he didn't want to be involved. Whether or not that means just an animated series, or Dr. Who in general, I'm not sure. SQ>While I'd -really- not want to see DW as an animated series, not SQ>everything animated is necessarily "kiddie." Ever seen "Heavy SQ>Metal?" Heavy Metal aside, there are a lot of cartoons on TV now which use the format to very good atmospheric effect, and are pretty sophisticated. Batman, for instance, though I haven't seen the more recent episodes and have a funny feeling that its gone downhill. I've also been impressed by the one episode I saw of Gargoyles (the Macbeth one). An animated series might be just the answer to give Doctor Who the special effects it needs without needing a huge budget. (It may also solve the "what do we do if we can't afford McGann?" problem, although I'd much rather see McGann again!) As long as the scripts keep pace, I think the "cartoon" Doctor Who could end up a lot less cartoonish then the Sylvester McCoy era! The big question is, how are the writers of the cartoon going to approach it? BTW, this brings me to another point, unrelated to Doctor Who except for the fact that its near impossible to find on TV any more: bring back Robotech! Fidolag catches us again, as I brought up the animated Batman series in a follow-up message. Guess I'm playing devil's advocate, but I'm with James Dixon in at least that animation tends to be equated with "kids," no matter how far from the actual truth that might be. One plus to animation, though, is that it could return the likes of William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, and Jon Pertwee to Doctor Who, although I wouldn't mind a little bit of Forrest Gump action done with some old footage. Anybody who's seen the bang-up job they did with Clinton in "Contact" knows that this -could- be done, but geez, I don't think DW would have the budget that "Contact" did.
