I don't know if this will help but here are some details about the book: Avon: A Terrible Aspect. Paul Darrow. Published by Carol Paperbacks. ISBN: 0-8216-2503-9 I've got no idea if it's only available from america or what. SQ> Lunae dies April 21 1997, Dixit Bob Glover ad Steve Quarrella: BG> I realize that the statement I am about to make is almost considered BG> heresy in some locales, but I have never seen the "Holy Grail" or the BG> "Flying Circus" or anything that was done by the Monty Python group. I SQ> It's too bad that PBS doesn't show them any longer -- I think Comedy SQ> Central had the rights at one point. They're definitely worth a look I will do that some time. It would probably be easiest just to go to my local Blockbuster and get them. Is there anything orther than the flying circus and holy grail that I should get ? SQ> if you're into stuff like "Are You Being Served" or "Black Adder." Of SQ> course, many of their episodes are easily located for rental at your SQ> local Blockbuster, and all of their movies are likewise easy to find. SQ> I'd love to open up the floodgates for "serious" (!) discussion about SQ> Python, but after spending a year in MONTE and watching people try to SQ> out "dead parrot" each other, I decided that I didn't want to see this SQ> echo turn into that kind of snorefest. SQ>> "The Holy Grail." In the meantime, by all means feel free to discuss SQ>> shows like Are You Being Served?, Black Adder, Benny Hill, or whatever SQ>> else you've seen on PBS or BBCx. SQ> We haven't had much discussion in that vein in quite a while. Benny SQ> Hill was a favourite of mine when I was entering my teens (and not SQ> only for Hill's Angels :), and I used to annoy the hell out of my SQ> parents by staying up until 11 PM and then 11:30 PM on school nights SQ> to watch ol' Benny pat Jackie Wright on the back of his head (We had a SQ> neighbor next door who was a RINGER for Wright, except that he wasn't SQ> funny.). I always enjoyed Benny Hill and his skits taht always envolved women in a simi-nude state. Very sexually oriented comedy. SQ> Benny Hill helped make me the night owl that I am today. SQ> Another show, Sanford and Son, was another culprit, and that show was SQ> based on another Britcom, Steptoe and Son. Unfortunately, I have SQ> never seen it. I expect that the Steptoe fans would hate Sanford, and SQ> the Sanford fans would hate Steptoe. :) I was not aware that Sanford and Son was a take off of a British Comedy. BG> Very good, I am an avid devotee of the "Black Adder" series as SQ> You know, I have never watched more than a few minutes of Black Adder. SQ> I've laughed my ass off every time, but I've just never resolved to SQ> sit down and watch the show every week. Rowan Atkinson cracks me, and SQ> he's wonderful in Mr. Bean. He also appeared as a nervous minister in SQ> "Four Weddings and a Funeral." I thought he was wonderful as the nervous minister. I really broke up over his part in that movie. And I especially like the Black Adder episode during middle English history and during the military misadventures of the first world war. But the last episode where they went over the top hurt me. But for some reason I can't explain my self , I just don't like Mr. Bean. I don't know what it is about that show , but I can't seem to get into it. BG> well as being very interested in "Are you being served". SQ> Ditto here, although the effeminate salesman (Is he supposed to be SQ> gay?) cracks me up. Yes, but I think he is supposed to be somewhere between bi - sexual and openly gay. But what ever his orientation, I think he is most peoples favorite on that show. It is unfortunate for us , but that show is about 25 years old. I would really like to see a bunch more of the episodes. And another one that I like is the "Waiting for God" series. SQ Mary Sinclair made me a tape of the machine that SQ> said "Do not pay out!" in a Dalek voice. Good stuff. :) I have liked the Dr. Who stuff since I found it on pbs quite by accident bout 6 or 7 years ago. But the voices of the Daleks is like scrapeing my fingernails down a chalk board to me. It just makes me want to hit something. Hard! BG> I wonder if there is anyone else out there that watches those same BG> tired old reruns over and over , every time they air them? SQ> People will do that for ANY show. My wife and I play a game whenever SQ> the episodes of a certain Gene Roddenberry SF show from the 60s comes SQ> on: Yes, I was that way about that certian show by Roddenberry for years. Then ne day I realized that I had watched it way too many times. I guess which episode it is just by listening, and sometimes I SQ> get it right within one or two seconds. Evidently, I've seen this SQ> show FAR too many times. :) BG> day that I thought would be interesting to get into . I am going to by BG> looking into your board in more detail soon. Thanks for everything . BSG SQ> Watch the peeling paint, as the current software is on its last legs.
