You could also attach it to mail of people who are inclided to read it. I think the biggest benefit, though, is in the writing of the 20 page overview. It will help you see both the forest and the trees, and other people's input will not be as important as you may think. If you want to drop it here, put it in the TW file area, or email it to me. I am not the sysop, I will not be privy to his settings. I have, however, suggested that he keep Game #2 as version 3.04 (POP) and he seems inclined to do it. Instructions will be made available to all traders via bulletin on how to facilitate this bug. To make things somewhat more interesting, some CD games will be made mailed to the winner and the first person to move Fergy. It may be that you already have these games or cannot use them on your computer, in which case, you will have our sypathies as well as the games. To make it more interesting, other traders are encouraged but not required to add prizes to the pot. I myself am inclined to add a 386 IBM/PS2 that won't boot, an electric typewriter (worked fine last time I used it, 5 years ago), a toaster oven, and a stereo receiver that works fine except I blew the right channel out when I routed Indy Car through it at max volume (well, I wiggled a loose wire...). Winner of these items, though, pay shipping... The sysop gives 30 minutes a day free to most areas of the board, including three Tradewars games and a TW file area. Additional time is available for a nominal fee. I believe $2 a month will get you 90 minutes, which, again, I believe, is the most typical access. The board also has a time bank, so if you want to keep to just free access, I believe you can have a bit more to work with if you save your time. The sysop does not play TW. He does, however, have some knowledge of the game and a strange sense of humor. His most typical games are very low (10%) or low (20%) port densities; he has had some games where there were *no* "true" paired ports. I will encourage him to at least find in his heart to keep density to 20%. If you have further questions, you must have email or telnet in (to klock.com) and catch me locally. bil.burton@klock.com ... The EMRG }would be easier to code since it would function pretty much like }fighters in TW do, in that you fire a certain amount of ammo at the }enemy ship and have to eventually replenish your supply. } } However, the HEPP, being energy based, wouldn't have any type of }supply to replenish so a player would always have the full offensive }capability of their ship available even though their shields/hull }armor will be reduced during the counterattack. (Yes, I intend to make }sure that even offline players will retaliate if attacked.) The HEPP sounds like it would be bad for game balance, unless it was fairly weak. (If the HEPP needs no ammo, why bother buying other weapons or ammo?) With the weapon made into a lower-end gun, the only way to put it into a tactical consideration would be if the player had the option to trade off some benefit to make the weapon more effective. Say, burning ship movement points, or consuming some hold object, like "feul ore". That would make it's use a tactical choice for the player, and if you give the players a setting to decide how much of his resource to burn when he's attacked offline, that balances, too. If he set it too high, he starts for the day with a quarter of his regular move, but at least he didn't get blown up... *<{ Eileen Stone }>* The Lady Healer! --- WWIVGate 2.00c * Origin: * Eagle's Dare * Laurel, MD * (301) 498-1984 (1:109/500) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 124 TRADE WARS Ref: F2S00011 Date: 02/22/98 From: NATHANIEL SMITH Time: 05:50pm \/To: CAROLYN STOFFEL (Read 0 times) Subj: POP BUG? -> That's what I think, too.
