Some of the compilers offered in packages like that are pretty good. I got my first copy of Mix Power C that way, and then went on to upgrade. The only limitation in the version that came with the book was, it only had libraries for the medium memory model. Since when does Windows itself run on a 286 PC ??? :-) I think you mean EP>an 386SX, right ? Windows 3.1 will run on a 286. It is not able to take advantage of all of the features, but it will run. It runs in what is known as "Standard mode," and will only run DOS programs in full screen mode. In fact, it only requires 256K of conventional memory, and 192K of extended memory.
