Why are you having such a hard time understanding that upgrading your BIOS will very likely fix whatever problem it is you're having? Perhaps you'd rather be running DOS 3.1? Class 2 fax requires the chips in the modem to handle that format, whereas Class 1 is handled via software in the CPU. It saves a few dollars in the manufacturing process, thereby assumedly increasing profit. Cheers, Phil ... As of today, we will be officially signing off of Fidonet. We discontinued Fidonet technical support several months ago, and the next logical step is to discontinue Fidonet altogether. Many of you have been here since we first opened this echo, and may find a sour taste in your mouth about us leaving. Let me make it clear that this was not an administrative decision, it was my own. As it currently stands, I do not have the time to invest into keeping a working Fido link. This could change in the future, and we may return. The biggest reason we are signing off is to help me consolidate much of the BBS. As long as Fidonet is passing us packets, this cannot happen. Our software is old, and lacks year 2000 compliancy. Once things are cleaned up on our end, I can look at joining the echos again. I will continue to offer sysop price lists, and current contact info on our BBS. For those of you that don't know, the number is 541-967-9631. I sincerely appreciate those of you that have been dedicated to our company from its infancy. We really have come a long way since the days when we made printer buffers for the Atari. :) We will continue to improve our support to you, and I assure you that this change will help me accomplish this. Please feel free to direct comments, questions, or concerns to jamiec@diamondmm.com Best regards, Jamie Corrigan - Sysop of Diamond BBS (previously Supra BBS) --- FLAME v1.1 * Origin: Supra BBS - Technical Support is "SUPRA CORP" (1:357/4) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 267 SUPRA MODEMS Ref: F1X00001 Date: 01/27/98 From: GARY GILMORE Time: 08:45pm \/To: BRIAN TIPLING (Read 1 times) Subj: Flashing Supras... We just had a VAX go belly-up after some Y2K testing. I'm of the opinion hat BBS's for hobbyists may be a thing of the past by Y2K, so I'm not even going to cross the Y2K bridge until 01/01/00. However, for a corporation, you're to be applauded for making an effort to keep things running. :) Phil --- Bink/Max/GE 1.20 Pro * Origin: Analytical Engine CBCS [440] 942-3876 (1:157/554)
