It doesn't look like a healthy thing to me. I almost expected to see smoke. I'm keeping mine cool with a 5", 220vac fan running on 110vac. The fan runs at about half speed when you do this, so it's nearly silent. When he calls and connects with the slower 28.8k modem he has -> no problems whatsoever. When he connects with the faster 33.6k -> modem, he has problems downloading files :( Regardless of his -> initial connect speed, the throughput on his downloads spiral down -> to nothing very quickly. He is forced to download the same file -> several times before he can get all of it :( He doesn't have any -> problem connecting, staying connected or uploading... I ust -> liked the display in the orientation better. :-) I just bought me a little muffin fan to sit next to the three modems I run. They do tend to get hot, and I've noticed that the speakers quit working when they overheat. I was told that the internal modem parts are actually mounted onto the case in such a way as to use the case as a heat sink. That would explain a lot.
