Don't bet on how good I might be without it. I did maps by hand for a year before I got my first helper. And the "Online" stuff was always too cumbersome too fight Ferrengi and other Traders in the MBBS version. Mike Magero and I had a big discussion about 2 yrs. ago about good vs. evil and how much helpers did or did not help. If I find him on the Internet somewhere it will be put up or shutup time. Uhm.. anyhow i was just thinking of putting a planet in the main space lanes to catch any ferrengi flying by and collect off that. but i might just take my ISS and max it out then rid the universe of aliens. Do most of the aliens have carbo's on board. And there's a ferrengi assault trader around...if i take him out can i capture the ship...and is it worth much ... I dunno. Why would you want to even attempt to attack and/or surround the Ferringi if you don't have the resources to successfully complete the task? I would think that using what resources you have to surround the Ferringi would be counter-productive. Instead, do what I did...:) I layed back and built my resources first, then pounced the Ferringi with little difficulty, utilizing all the tools available. I didn't say that players who use TW assistants/helpers are automatically bad players without that. I said that it would be fun to play a game without a CIM between myself and some other players who never use a CIM, and the players who always do. I've heard quite a few players claim they can do just as good without the CIM as they can with it. I'd like to be able to say "Put your money where your mouth is" and be able o play from there. Unfortuneately, the only person currently local to my board would refuse to play because he think's we TEdit ourselves, which handily sidesteps any question of who the better player is. That, and if the option to remove the CIM were there, not many people would play a non-CIM game over the game with the CIM.
