In the event that this is not possible, no return orrespondence may occur (or such correspondence as is possible may be greatly delayed). Please do not request contact via a medium other than that which you used for your correspondence, as this places a much larger load on our staff by increasing the time and resources required to properly service each case. Pick it up where you get your other echomail in (or from) North America. Echo Purpose and History: This echo is intended both as a means of contacting the Communications Division of Diamond Multimedia for support of the Supra modem product line and as a means of knowledge exchange between users of Supra modem products. This echo was originally started by Wayne Boyd (in Burnaby, BC, Canada) in the fall of 1992 to help answer his (and others) questions about how to use his SupraFAXModem. In the fall of 1993, Supra Corp. joined Fidonet and started providing technical support and comment. In the spring of 1995, moderation was taken over by Patrick Moore (Fidonet 1:357/4 or patrick@supra.com via the Internet) of Supra Corp. when Wayne Boyd was no longer able to be active in Fidonet. In fall of 1995 Diamond Multimedia merged Supra Corp in as its Communications Division. Echo Rules and Policies: 1. Do not be annoying and do not be easily annoyed (no FLAMES). 2. Please limit messages here to issues regarding the use of Supra modem products. 3. Do not post messages with high-bit ASCII characters or any type of encoded file. 4. Do not use aliases (real names only please). The only exception to this being the Supra Technical Support accounts. The modems sysops adopt today will help shape the purchase decision of online users for years to come. We at the Communication Division of Diamond Multimedia (formerly Supra Corporation) are excited to offer special pricing on the award-winning SupraFAXModem and SupraSonic product lines. The SupraFAXModem 288 was named #1 in the high-speed modem category of the `Best 200 Hardware Buyer's Superguide' in the June 1994 edition of "PC/Computing" At 33,600 bps, the SupraFAXModem 288 (now with 33.6k support) and SupraSonic 336V+ are better than twice the speed of V.32bis (14400 bps) modem. This performance leap allows graphics screens to "snap" on to a caller's display and provides a vast reduction in file transfer time. FidoNet Hubs and Internet providers will find it easier to meet the demands of modern users hungry for echo conferences and news groups with Supra modems online. Supra modems in our offer support the following standards & features: - Bell 103/212A (300/1200bps) (Excluding 300bps on Sonic) - V.21/22/22bis (300/1200/2400bps) (Excluding 300bps on Sonic) - V.32/V.32bis (4800-14400bps) - MNP 2-4 & V.42(LAPM) Error Correction - MNP 5 & V.42bis(BTLZ) Data Compression - V.27/29 (9600 send/recv fax) - V.17 (14,400 fax) - Class 1 & Class 2 fax command sets - 16550 buffered UART emulation (PC Internal Units Only) - Caller ID - Adaptive Answer - Silent Answer - V.34 (2400-336000bps) - Asymmetrical Carrier Rates (V.34 mode only) - V.FastClass (V.FC) (14400-28800bps) - MNP 10 - Distinctive Ring Detection - Real-Time Carrier Condition Status - Serial "Plug-n-Play" - Ring-Back detection - FLASH ROMs for adding enhancements and features via software. - V.80 Sync Access Mode SupraSonic modems also include VOICE support. Gary Gilmore, sysop of the Bloom County BBS (past Fido Net 2410 EC and current echomail hub in the Detroit area) said this about the new SupraFAXModem 288: "The modem is blindingly fast...it's been very reliable. Installation is a piece of cake. Flash ROM updates are immediate - no waiting. The flash ROM is so easy...it's just that - a flash." External SupraFAXModems have 4 lights (RD/SD/OH/TR) and our unique alpha-numeric green LED display. The cycling display indicates the current carrier rate & type, compression mode, error correction mode, and more to keep you informed of the current operating state and changing conditions. All this is packed into the famous small case (1" high by 4.5" wide by 6.5" long). SupraSonic modems have a dual 16 character LCD display panel that provides complete status (or custom user or software generated information) at a quick glance. Internal modems are 8-bit, half cards which may be configured to any combination of communication ports 1 to 4 and interrupt request (IRQ) lines 2 to 5 (Yes, the SupraFAXModem 288 internal offered here HAS jumpers.)
