I have logged a complaint about the lack of support, pointing out that they mention fidonet in their manuals, and hopefully we will get some support again. I have also asked that my messages be forwarded to Patrick so that he is made aware of this problem. Hmm.. isn't it easier to have FD answer the phone, then exit to the mailer? oh well.. but in response to your question, the Express doesn't have Non-volitile memory. If you wanna shut your speaker up, you can either do it perminantly by breaking it (and killing your warenty), or just have RA or whatever controls the modem when it isn't connected send the m0 command every time it re-initiallises the modem (On my system, fd does that every few minutes). As those of you who are recieving mail here know I have been struggling to get the SupraExpress to work in a bbs environment. Here is what I have ended up with: I run RemoteAccess 2.02 along with FrontDoor 2.12sw and FMail 1.0g. The system is set-up to run in what is commonly called "shell to mailer" mode. In this senerio be sure you have RA answer the modem. In FrontDoor 2.12 and RemoteAccess 2.02 you use the init string: atm0&c1&d2w2&w I am not sure if the &w is needed for modems without nvram... can anyone verify that it IS needed? Next, in your batchfile that runs the bbs you need to place the command: echo atm0>com# (where # is equal to the comport you have the modem connected to). This command needs to be at every label in your batchfile just prior to the command being executed by your batchfile. Seize the day! Simple enter the appropriate initialization string for your modem. e.g. FDSETUP: AT&F2LMW2 Reset to (PC)Factory Default, Low Speaker Volume,Speaker Always OFF, Report Connection Speed.
