Just contact loreen@supra.com and tell her you want to upgrade your modem to 33k6. Then she will tell you that you need to send a fax requesting for a RA number. You will also need a creditcard if you want to have it done quickly. Then you will be told to send the modem to Supra in the USA. ADR> What are the costs of upgrading through Supra U.S.A.? It will only cost you USD 49,95. You will have to pay shipping costs from The Netherlands to the USA. And maybe back. I'm not sure. My modem was broke, so I had it fixed and upgraded all at once. That way it didn't cost me any shipping costs. I personally did not use the modem for very long after I bought it. I had it installed on a remote mailer system that was making long-distance calls to my main system. Therefore, I did not readily witness the poor connection problems. I assumed that the top 9600bps speed was attributed to poor long-distance line quality. But when I replaced the LC on *that* remote system, the connection speeds improved immediately. Then when I used the LC regularly myself, I noticed that the RECEIVE channel was constantly struggling and retraining. I bought the LC as an emergency replacement when my regular 14.4 v32bis external was sent back to the retailer for an exchange/repair. ...AA a.abolins@ieee.ca august@etc.mn.pubnix.net (MTLnet) --- * Origin: -- Do not bend, staple, fold, or mutilate. -- (1:253/60) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 267 SUPRA MODEMS Ref: DG200005 Date: 11/29/96 From: RENE NIEUWBURG Time: 07:16pm \/To: ALFRED DE RUITER (Read 3 times) Subj: SupraFAXModem 288 PC upgrade Hola/Hallo/Hello Alfred! ADR> What is the procedure if I want to upgrade the modem in the U.S.A.? I believe you are talking about the hardware upgrade for modems that answer to "ATI3" with "RC288DPi Rev 04BC". I think they would refuse to upgrade in the USA for European clients. In the information provided on the Internet they explicitly tell to to contact France or UK for that. I am in the same situation like you. I am really fed up with this upgrade business. I tried to call Diamond UK about it and I never got any further than the "waiting room" music. They really don't consider international customers. I asked technical support if they could give any email address or Fax but never got any answer. I decided not to buy the upgrade. Several have complained that it doesn't reach alwsys the 33.6k. So I think it is just a waiste of money for that could-be 17% gain. I wait until the 57.6k standard comes out and will buy that generation from the competition; they offer it as a flash-upgrade on one of their present modems!. If I were you, I would do the same.
