BW>I'd say they have paid MS for the priviledge or like what I BW>heard about MS and PCTools. PCTools allowed MS the use of PCT BW>backup routines and PCT used the GUI look for PCbackup, and BW>probably other utils. It's just as possible that MS allows it at no charge, considering that Compaq sells alot of computers and the almost always are bundled with Windows of one flavor or another. The amount of revenue that Compaq generates gives them some leverage on this. :-} BW>Well, the main 'force' was Netscape's author complaining BW>about IE being bundled with Win95. Said it was unfair BW>competition. And the stupid feds believed him. BW>Netscape works just as good as IE, if you say yes to "Make BW>Netscape the default browser?" Although, I doubt if I'll use BW>NS again after this. I'll agree with you on this one. :-} I believe that the whole thing is a waste of time and energy. Granted that MS has ~90% of the market share right now. That is a combination of an excelent marketing department, a very good product line, and poor performance by the compitition. I don't consider them a monopoly just because there is OS/2, Linux, Unix, Corel Office, etc out there. Consumers do have a choice when it comes to operating systems, applications and utilities. At this time consumers choose Microsoft above all others. Not because they are being forced to, but because they want them. If Microsoft starts loosing quality consumers will go elsewhere. I'm a consultant and am responsible for helping clients choose what software and hardware is best suited for them. At this time it is Microsoft, but be assured, I would not hesitate to change over to another companies product if MS didn't supply what was needed. CH>Hey fellows, I recall seeing something about someone wanting CH>to CH>get rid of the small arrows in the lower left corner of the CH>Icons on the desk top and for some reason or another I all of CH>a sudden have a whole bunch of them on mine now and as I CH>recall CH>he didn't like them and frankly neither do I, so could CH>someone CH>please advise me how to get rid of them as I have searched CH>through CH>the Help files and have drawn a blank! I recommend that you keep them. The arrows denote that the icon is a shortcut to a program and not the icon for the program itself. If you delete an icon with the arrow, or the shortcut icon, it's no big deal. However, if you delete the main icon you will also delete the application program it is associated with. This is the main reason for these arrows. If you really want to get rid of them, just get TweakUI from Microsoft's beta site. It has the capability of removing the arrows. Hope this helps.
