Whether you can do what you're contemplating or not depends on how your connected to the internet through your BBS. If your using Netterm to connect to the BBS with a "modem" connection, the modem is tied up, and you can do nothing more on the internet than use whatever clients (telnet, FTP, etc.) are available on the BBS. If your BBS is an ISP and allows you to connect using a real sock connection, such as Dial Up Networking, then you can use Netterm as a telnet client for all sites you wish to visit. I doubt this is the case. The last possibility is that the BBS is a WINS BBS on the internet. If that is the case, the Wildcat Navigator software provides a virtual sock connection, and you must log on to the BBS with this software to be able to take advantage of the sock. Once you're connected to the BBS, you can then launch any internet applications you wish to use. Of course, you still need a browser to surf the web, Netterm is merely a terminal comm/telent program. BTW, you configure it offline. Use the "add" button in the address book to create new entries, choosing TCP/IP for each site, and enter its address in the appropriate field. That's it...RF --- OLX 2.2 TD This tagline only to be removed by the consumer. * Origin: Get Your Fido Fix Here. telnet://bbs.docsplace.org (1:3603/140) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 263 WINDOWS '95 Ref: F5P00083 Date: 05/19/98 From: TORBJORN MOHN Time: 06:13pm \/To: BILL DRAKE (Read 7 times) Subj: Ws2setup.exe > Hi, Torbjorn. I downloaded ws2setup.exe again from www.microsoft.com/windows/download/ 2. Removed the read only attrib on all the ws2 files. 3. Rebooted Windows 95 4. Installed ws2setup.exe 5. Restarted computer in DOS mode. 6. Deleted vnbt.386 on dos (actually, I just renamed it to vnbt.old 7. Booted windows 95 again. The "new" vnbt.386 is STILL reported as ver 1656 !! I checked the ws2setup. log, and it reported to have replaced the vnbt.386 file. Is it possible that Microsoft has screwed up, and reinstalled an old ws2setup.exe? I'm puzzeled, are you? For a large incoming mail bundle to be distributed into 10 or 20 other directions, it makes a *BIG* difference if SMARTDRV is loaded or not: a) All dos functions are about 3 times faster, conservatively speaking. b) there is *much* less hard drive activity than without SMARTDRV.
