EM> A URL address would be great a email attachment would be super! Hi, Earl. It is my understanding that Riven has problems where Riven installs an incompatible older version of Quicktime over top of the proper latest version of Quicktime you should be running on your system. The problem is in the brain-dead Riven install process, not in Quicktime. Please check the Riven webpage for patches and/or updates to Riven, along with FAQ info which may help you solve your problem. These instructions provide compatability between Riven and newer versions of Quicktime than the one supplied with Riven itself. There is no need to reload your system. There is no need to downgrade Quicktime. There is a need to install Riven so it *doesn't* mangle your Quicktime 3 installation by installing and running parts of Quicktime 2.x. Best I can do for now. Older Pentium motherboards have bugs in their flashBIOS which cause problems with hardware detection in W95. Check with the motherboard manufacturer for flashBIOS updates and other driver updates for that motherboard. Install as directed. Note: Some flashBIOS updates on the oldest Pentium motherboards must be performed *before* W95 is installed, in order to get a valid W95 installation. If you have one of these motherboards, you may need to reinstall W95 from scratch in order to get a valid W95 installation. Best I can do for now. The readerror is probably Quicktime's way of preventing you from installing an older version of thier product over the newer version already present in your W95 Registry. Ok, what I did was start in SAFE mode, and BTW, there was a LOT of hard drive activity, and it took a looonnngg time before it ended up in SAFE mode, and once in SAFE mode, I entered the control panel, tried to exit, and then the computer locked up again, as usual: UPON TRYING TO EXIT control panel.
