(it says: sector not found). :) From here it seems that _every_ virus that wasn't desing to infect FAT32 paratition can't infect those. we, FAT32 users are safe from FAT16 boot sectors viruses.. yeah :). Thats another reason to install FAT32. Win98 RUNS on 386, e.g. AMD 386 DX 40 MHz with 16 Mb RAM. 8 Mb RAM didn't work, but with 20 Mb RAM (4 x 4 Mb + 4 x 1 Mb) you can disable swapfile - but then you can't start any application (only explorer) ... Try it: Make a minimal installation on a 486/66 MHz (or higher) - then put the harddisk in a 386 and complete the installation. It runs fine, if you don't activate "active desktop" and "show folders as webpages" and so on (boot time: 80 sec.). (By the way: If you use an old 420 to 500 Mb harddisk you have no problem with 512 Mb limit of older controllers that are usually in 386 computers. And if you copy the Win98 install files on harddisk in a subdirectory and install Win98 from that subdirectory you didn't need a CD-ROM in your 386 computer for later installation. Otherwise you can use a 2 Gb harddisk or so, use "fdisk" and "format" on the 386 computer while only using 512 Mb of the 2 .)
