In the third edition of Van JH> Nostrand's scientific Encyclopedia I found (pp. 1691-92) under the JH> heading "Time," the following: JH> "From the earliest recorded history the...sun has been adopted as JH> clock for regulating human affairs, and the apparent [visible to JH> the eye; obvious] solar day is the interval of time between JH> successive passages of the true sun across a local meridian. For JH> many centuries upper culmination, or apparent noon, marked the JH> beginning of an apparent day and local apparent time was the hour JH> angle of the true sun. Prior to 1925 the mean solar day began at JH> upper culmination (mean noon) and the civil day began at JH> midnight." Yep, sounds about right for man's calculations, but just haven't spent any time on those calculations, for they are of no use to us in understanding The Scriptures, right? JH> In the New English Dictionary under the word "day," we are told: JH> "The solar day is the fundamental unit of time...being determined JH> by observation of the sun, [day] is taken to begin with the JH> passage of the mean sun over the meridian... at high noon... JH> while the civil day begins at midnight." Yep, have heard of the solar day and all that, however it has nothing whatsoever to do with Biblical times calculations of time, for those people did not know of such things and could only go by what our Father had told them in His Word to them, right, and since The Bible was written with understanding, we must also use the same calculations in order to understand what The Word is saying to us of today, correct? --- Blue Wave/Max v2.30 * Origin: Skeeter Haven "Nashville, TN" (615) 872-8609 (1:116/17) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 262 INT. Nu 9:3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at evening, ye shall keep it in its appointed season: according to all its rites, and according to all its ceremonies, shall ye keep it. {at even: Heb. between the two evenings} And, of course, the same applies here also! >>> Continued to next message... --- Blue Wave/Max v2.30 * Origin: Skeeter Haven "Nashville, TN" (615) 872-8609 (1:116/17) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 262 INT. De 16:6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time of thy departure from Egypt. At the setting of the sun cannot possibly be made any plainer! Mr 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And here we see that the third hour was between 6am to 9am which coincides with all other Scriptures! Mr 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And we see here that the sixth hour is clearly 9am to 12 noon or midday! And the darkness lasted until the ninth hour, which could have been anywhere from midday to 3pm! Now it is plain to see that had it been night, it would, of necessity, had to have been dark the whole time and not just a part of the time! Mr 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Now, since most scholars say that He died at 3pm, rather than some time between midday and 3pm, do we see any reason to not accept this time since it does allow plenty of time between 3pm and 6pm (sunset) to quickly but not completely prepare His body for burial and bury it in the tomb in order to keep within the law! Mt 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And, of course, the same applies here! Ge 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. {And the evening...: Heb. And the evening was, and the morning was} Now, as we see from above on the natural day and the natural night, this is also self explanatory! Ex 30:8 And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at the evening, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. {lighteth: or setteth up: Heb. causeth to ascend} {at even: Heb. between the two evenings} * and when Aaron sets up the lamps in the evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. And here also, it is self explanatory, for why would Aaron even think about lighting the lamps at any other time? Ex 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked to the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, * And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down upon the host of the Egyptians, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians, And finally, here we see that them morning watch is from 3am to 6am and if we consider the fact that the pillar of fire was over them every night, the Adonay would not be looking at the host of the Egyptians in a pillar of a cloud by day as is plainly shown in Ex 13:21 So as we can see from the above, The Bible does truly interpret Itself and does clearly show when the Biblical day begins and ends, viz., sunset to sunset! Therefore, all other times must, of necessity, come from the doctrines and commandments of men! Well, it was just a little long and will make one extra part instead of two at least!
