My modem cam with the Acer In your modem initialization string add the command M0 which will tell your modem to turn the speaker off. An additional command you could also add is L1 which is Low Speaker Volume. For additional modem commands, assuming your modem is Hayes Compatible you could enter from your terminal screen, AT$ which should bring up a list of different modem commands. Look at the M commands and L commands for variety. Enjoy, Stephen Brandt - Conway, Arkansas --- TLX v3.40 ... It's a 14400/9600 fax modem in my laptop. I have no idea who manufacturers it. The situation is that I have never been able to achieve a throughput greater than 12000 baud or about 1500 CPS. 1450 - 1300 CPS is not uncommon. I'm using Telemate but I've used other telecom programs. Typically communicate with BBSs. What factors might I examine, reoption, tweak or peak? Preston --- . SLMR 2.1a .
