From: john@johnone.softnet.co.uk Newsgroups: alt.paranormal.channeling Organization: [not set] Original Date: Sun, 18 May 1997 17:52:26 GMT I'm not a Christian, I don't prescribe to any religious faith, and I don't even pretend to know the 'truth'. The problem is there ARE today too many people claiming to know it in one guise (disguise) or another, and even thousands more people seemingly desperate to jump into the next book, tape course, seminar, workshop... if it makes money, someone somewhere will exploit the niche. Yes, I'm that 'cynical'. Because over the years I've gathered my own collection of such material, and been to that workshop, and got the T-shirts. From personal experience I know that in the long term most of this supposed 'New-Age', metaphysical, spiritual, conciousness stuff is satisfying to one's urge to 'know' for no worthwhile time at all - usually until the next alleged source of indisputable knowledge and truth comes along - another new book, article, course or workshop. If you want the search, go for it. But my own view is that you might as well spend your time on something that will actually be satisfying and of use to you in the long term... Most of this search will actually be time wasting. James Redfield's 'Celestine Prophecy' is of the gendre of material I'm alluding to. It's a good piece of fiction, I'll admit. But if you want to share your time in groups, going through each one in an attempt to secure some sort of 'pain release/enlightenment', just admit to yourself that the real motive is that it all gets you out the house and into a group of mutually interested peers. Most people want to 'belong' and feel wanted, and on a deeper level to have someone or a group actually acknowledge, even appreciate, your existence. This has nothing to do with 'truth' or the material that fills the bookshops, and is still cluttering my bookshelves. Think about it. If you enjoy the act of searching, great. If you tell me you've found the 'truth', I regret I cannot believe you, particularly if your truth also happens to be your source of income. Next time you read James Redfield, think about it. Best wishes to all on the great search (tho' contrary to the great promise, you may just not find, but if you think you have, enjoy!) It was interesting to begin with, we would have all manner of spirit come to visit and communicate, the glass would go very fast in circles around the table, and would occasionally "fly" in the air. After a while I found out that they were just reading our minds and playing on our emotions. Eventually one evening we sat down to communicate and decided to put the spirit to test. It came to a friends turn immediately to myleft to ask his question. He asked: how much money do I have in my pocket. His chair tipped back to balance on the rear two legs, and his body straightened and stiffened to balance across the top of the chair, he was not being propped up by anything visibleand was not in contact with the table. He was balancing across the top of the chair, and the chair was balancing on its rear two legs. His pocket was moving as if there was a hand in it, but there was no hand to be seen. We all got quite scared at this and cleared the table and took my friend to the bathroom to wash his face with cold water to bring him round. Another one took the letters on the table to the kitchen and burnt them in an ashtray, then dowsed them with water to put out the flames thinking that this was a good way to send the spirit back to where ever. After a while, my friend who had the experience came back to the room with a glazed look and he was holding the ashtray with the burnt letters, he went over to the table and tried to spread this mess over the table as if he wanted to continue, well ........ we had a possesion on our hands. We took my friend bay car to one church then another and another to get help. His strength was phenomal, it took 4 of us to control him. Eventually we were directed to a "sanctuary" where they dealt with things of this nature. It took a couple of days for my friend to return back to "normal". The ouija board is o.k. for those people who are experienced enough to work with it, but for all the rest of you take a warning from me and leave it alone. --- MailGate 0.25e * Origin: Ask your Fido Feed for I_UFO (1:330/201.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 258 CHANNELING Ref: E5S00037 Date: 05/21/97 From: CHRIS LEWIS Time: 05:16am \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: cmsg cancel <5lsol0$lkv$3097@taurus.bv.s05:16:0005/21/97 From: "Chris Lewis" Newsgroups: alt.paranormal.channeling Original Date: 21 May 1997 00:01:30 GMT BLACKOUT spam cancelled by clewis@ferret.ocunix.on.ca Original Subject: excellent find! This sterling silver reproduction is patterned after a watch in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The link between time and death has a long history. Royalty of the 16th century adorned themselves with the skull watch and monks were known to have attached them to their rosaries. This watch was understood to be a measure of the time in their lives and the skull symbolized their eventual end. In our version of the skull watch there is a beautiful carved swan and sun detail that symbolizes the beauty of life. These skull watches remind us to use the time we have wisely, and to enjoy life's beauty. The watch face on this watch is patterned after the 16th century skull watches and includes the authentic single hand timing method in use then. The skull watch pictured in our ad is the mechanical model with skull chain and is beautifully handcrafted in sterling silver and is shrouded with a leather hood. Note: The hand at the end of the silver skull chain slips under and attaches to your belt. This mechanical model contains precision jeweled movements with a silver winding key. This model is eagerly sought by collectors. A less expensive quartz movement is available also. Each sterling silver skull watch is handmade, one at a time, numbered and signed.
