If you drink milk, discontinue. When the problem occurs, you might want to have hot food or a hot bowl of soup. Take the herb, saw palmetto [sp?] regularly. SP helps both with prostate and head/nose sinus problems. Other helpful herbs include pau d' arco; goldenseal; echinacea; and the amino acid, L-Lysine with vitamin C. ... Been there, done that, got not only the Tee shirt but a fistfull of old bills and empty bottles. Even had so many antibiotics prescribed for what was supposed to be a bladder infection (they go along with the rest of this syndrome) that I had a damaged immune system. Then a very good urologist at the University of Washington Clinic put me in the OR, did an exam, and found the bleeding in the bladder itself. And put me on a special diet which works just fine if I follow it. Have you ever been tested for food allergies or allergies of any kind? The kind of doctor that does this is listed as a "Rheumatologist" in some places, under "allergies" in others. Unless they also know how to help you test for cerebral reactions to foods, some are going to be missed on a blood test. I was finally tested when I was in my late 20's and have struggled ever since as those foods we crave the most seem to be the worst ones we pick for ourselves! And not all doctors believe in food allergies. The good news is that there are enough books written now by those who do on hand in the nearest library or large book store that you can begin to find out for yourself if that applies to you. I've tried many alternative CL> health methods as well as put several medical doctor's children CL> through college. I would advise getting a good supply of the following herbs and making a tea daily from them, in generally equal proportions (adjust to taste): Marshmallow root soothes mucus membranes Blue vervain cuts down on inflamation of the upper respiratory system Echinacea and goldenseal will boost your immune system to avoid other infections White willow bark is where aspirin comes from, and it will alleviate the pain Chamomile will help you relax Peppermint tastes really good Of course if you are allergic to any of these cut the allergen out of the formula. Also, get some eucalyptus oil and some eucalyptus leaves, and put a dropper or two of the oil in a jar with the leaves all crushed up. Close it tightly and whenever you have problems breathing, open that sucker and inhale. It's just like a Vick's inhaler and ultimately it's cheaper (that bottle of oil will last forever). Hot tea (plain black tea) seasoned with lemon and honey and drank as hot as you can stand will clean out the mucus that drains past your estachians, plus the honey soothes your throat and the lemon contains vitamin C. Truth to tell, it sounds like expensive hype. Nothing is a cure-all. Your problems stem from ancient ignorance of how the body functions and so you are sadly stuck with it. Consult an herbalist if there is one in your area to see if he or she knows if there are other alternatives to this bad cycle you're going through. It sounds pretty miserable.
