PT> I am not as pessimistic after hearing from you. PT> Your last message held out the "olive branch" for me. Glad to hear it. It isn't always easy, but I am finding time. I still have problems - right now its a wonky knee that just isn't behaving. I got a mixture of Glucosamine Sulfate and Chrondo-something-or-other-too-lazy-to-get-out-of-chair-and-grab-bottle. Damn. Too egotistical to look uninformed - Chondroitin sulfate. Combined with the regular doses of Bromalain (which has been absurdly effective) I'm hoping I'll get the knee to behave, while increasing my training base. We'll see how things are tomorrow. Going to go for a 50-80k ride. I've only done 140k this week, and I would like to get a 200k/week base. PT> My Dad has colorectal cancer, which was diagnosed PT> in 1991. My Dad's sister Patricia is recovering I think that was one of the problems for me. After facing cancer, losing a few pounds wasn't a great concern: I was happy to be breathing. Unfortunately, as the old RUSH song sorta goes, I kinda forgot to ask the question, "Is it living, or just existence." Now I'm living again. PT> among other problems, could all be avoided with PT> more exercise, and eating much fewer doughnuts. PT> Cycling is an activity I want to give thee olde PT> college try to... Keep writing back... Will do. A chap that I know and is a close friend of my regular riding partner has given up on the bus - and its half-hour timeframe to get him to school. Despite scoliosis, he's gone and got a bike. I think that will have a profound effect on his fitness level, and perhaps aid him in getting the back strong. PT> I think alternative medicine is a very PT> great topic for each of us to spend time PT> studying and writing about, especially with PT> an eye to helping other sick folks... I just wish some of this stuff wasn't so *#&$#& expensive! I find that goals worked for me. Goals such as getting to a certain weight. Getting there by a certain time. I had to re-schedule my "get to 182" date by a month, as my "get to 180" date. But given as I am at 185 now, and I want to be at 182 by Feb15, 180 by Fe28, I think I'll get there. That would be *50* pounds. Almost a quarter of my body fat *gone* - since I'm building muscle. My target weight was 180, but as I am 185 now with lots of flab, I'm re-adjusting and making it 175, with eyes on 170. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Fox n' Dragon Inn BBS (472-8313, Victoria, BC) (1:340/44) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN.
