"A mild case of what is going around" is not what they are aiming for with the flu vaccine. They are aiming for the flu viruses that are likely to be prevalent and to cause alot of complications. I personally do not get the flu shot either, as I am still young enough and healthy enough that a whopping case of the flu will usually be little more than very annoying. However, the flu shot can be very useful to individuals that have immune problems or breathing problems due to the complications that can occur. GA> The rest, not the drug, could have been the greater GA> influence on your healing. Ever sleep off a migraine? Yeah, I know. But the thing I find interesting is that four and a half days of rest, followed by one day of going to work and walking from/to the bus stop had no noticable effect. Changing to bromelain, and after two days of going to/from work, there was notable improvement. In fact, this week, I've started to cut loose on the bike again - racked up 2.5 hours on Monday (inna snow) and really pushed myself. Probably far harder than I should have. My knees were sore, but were better in a day or so. This morning, I got up early, and put in 17k or so. Again, no problems. It _might_ have been the rest. But given as I am trying to train for a big bike race in June, and given the money and time I've put into that effort - the extra few pennies a day to continue with glucosamine sulfate/bromelain is insignificant. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Fox n' Dragon Inn BBS (472-8313, Victoria, BC) (1:340/44) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. I am not as pessimistic after hearing from you. Your last message held out the "olive branch" for me. My Dad has colorectal cancer, which was diagnosed in 1991. My Dad's sister Patricia is recovering in Hamilton, Ontario - McMaster Medical Centre, after having a hip replacement. She has "osteoporosis" (unsure of spelling) and this condition has caused her bones to be very brittle. I am living a life that is far too inactive, but in the days beginning tonight, or tomorrow, I will begin to get much more activity and exercise outdoors, when possible, to prevent many health problems in the future. Diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and lung disease among other problems, could all be avoided with more exercise, and eating much fewer doughnuts. Cycling is an activity I want to give thee olde college try to... Keep writing back... I think alternative medicine is a very great topic for each of us to spend time studying and writing about, especially with an eye to helping other sick folks... Sicker than we are, eh?
