Vern, in the past summer, I had some dental work attempted, and the dentist tried some nitrous oxide "laughing gas" on me. He kept raising the dial, allowing a richer and richer gas mixture for me to breathe. I just got somewhat light-headed, and nothing too severe. The work on my teeth could not be finished. I have had problems with my kidneys since a very young age, about age 7. I have a stricture around my urethra. This cuts off the flow of urine, whenever I tinkle. I don't know when I will get more surgery done. I was signed up for day surgery on December 2nd. But, about a few weeks before the day, I asked to cancel it. I just don't think it is necessary. Getting the "flu shot" does not mean you will not get SA> influenza...it just means that you will not get the influenza that SA> they expect may make the rounds that year. In the past, their guesses have missed the mark in my case a mile. All the flu shots did for me was to make me sick with what they figured would work, then leave me vulnerable to what I did get. Much easier to get a mild case of what is going around, get over that, and be protected (more or less) for the rest of the season. * SPITFIRE v3.5 --- FreeMail 1.10 alpha-3 * Origin: PEACHY KEENO INN BBS * Tacoma,Wa * (206)539-0804 (1:138/190.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. I have just started using it for petello- GP> femoral syndrome relief and found it very good. I had/have *exactly* the same problem. Cropped up around mid-December, may have been brought on by trauma. Anyhow - pain/discomfort with one knee, then both. Likely caused or aided in no way by my cycling. The "traditional" treatment (see: standard medical quack) involved rest and Ibuprofin. The ibuprofin did nothing. Sitting aroudn the house, iced knees, serious discomfort. On day 4 of a 10-day rest, I started with Bromalain, as suggested by my chiropractor. Two days later, there was *NOTABLE* improvement. In fact, I was so impressed by the Bromalain, I've gone and started using a product that combines Glucosamine Sulfate as well as Bromalain - and backing that up with straight Bromalain at times. The results? Phenominal. I've commuted to work this week - on my bike. 10k both ways. I stand around at work for eight hours. Despite having a tipover on my bike (2Mph, going uphill on ice, was a controlled fall rather than a crash, but I took it on the outside of my left knee) and having someone accidently ram their foot in my knee at work, I have noted nothing but improvement. It still hurts a tad after I do squat thrusts for my workout, but I think in a couple of weeks I might start doing heavy workouts again, intervals, hill climbs, skating, and other things related to getting my body - and kness- ready to race. PS: The bike coach-type suggested Asprin. I haven't actually gone to that yet, but its a pretty natural substance. Just don't overdo it, eh? --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Fox n' Dragon Inn BBS (472-8313, Victoria, BC) (1:340/44) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN.
