I went to the opthalmologist on Monday, and during the course of a regular eye examination, they discovered that the pressure in my right eye is about 30. From what I was said, this can lead to nerve damage and eventually glaucoma and all the joys that portends. So I've got another appointment in a couple of months to get it looked at again, as well as to take photos of the nerves in my eyes, as they appear to be a bit cupped right now. I am, of course, concerned. My personal background: I am an overweight individual that get's a bit of exercise. I am 40 years old with a somewhat sedintary job. I have been trying to watch my weight, which for me means restricting the intake of fats and trying to get a bit more walking in, etc. I'd like to take care of this problem myself, or help in some way. I understand that the fluid buildup in my eye may be the result of inadequate drainage, etc., from what the opthalmologist told me. Is there anything I can do to help decrease the amount of fluid, perhaps even get it to drain a bit more readily, etc., short of commercial drugs? Any advice on diet or methods would be greatly appreciated in regards to this. I'd like to not develop glaucoma if I can avoid it . . . to paraphrase Woody Allen, my eyes are my third favorite organs . . . Naturam expellas furca, tamen usque recurret.
