I don't know of anyone who is...if so they have not made themselves known as such. What we post here are reports that by some means come to our attention. That is ALL..if anything we are reporters. WE can say if something that we happened to have used was either good or bad for US but that doesn't mean that it would have the same result for anyone else. You seem intend on taking what I said OUT of context. THe point is, endless debating gets no one anywhere. If someone has a mind set on one opinion, they aren't likely to change it. Information presented will interest them or not, bantering back and forth is time consuming, tedious, boring and irritating. Information is presented, either accept it, try it or leave it. This echo has gotten into the "I'm right and if you don't agree with me you're an idiot" frame which brings out name calling etc. There is a vast difference between this is what I read, saw, experienced, think etc and debating. THis is NOT a debate echo. Those who wish to do so should find another echo to play one upmanship on. --- D'Bridge 1.30/002111 * Origin: THE SOURCE BBS Miami, Fla 305-624-2190 135/68 (1:135/68) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. Beyond age 50 most men begin to experience the symptoms of BPH - benign prostate hyperplasia, enlargement of the prostate gland. The symptoms usually begin with the need to urinate during the nighttime sleep. Even when the bladder is not full, the "need" seems to be there. Advanced hyperplasia is characterized by the difficulty of urinating. BPH is rarely a signal for cancer. Serenoa Repens, Saw Palmetto Berry, is available at any health food store in the form of encapsulated powdered berries or in a 4:1 extract (4 x the concentration of the berries) usually served up in a soft gelcap containing 160 mg. extract. To begin, 2 of the latter daily can produce noticable relief for most men. In advanced stages, as many as 8 can be taken for daily maintenance. Expense probably is the upper limit, as no known side effects have been reported either in Europe or the U.S. --- InterEcho 1.18 * Origin: IC_STARS BBS * Madawaska,ME USA* 207-728-6427 (1:326/438) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. Question: Do you have GL> the same type of info on the onion herb, which is related to GL> garlic. If so, please post. Actually, the info on garlic is pertinent to onions in general since garlic belongs to the onion genus: Allium. The garlic most people think of is called Allium sativa. The yellow and red onions people use are cultivars of Allium cepa. Scallions are Allium fistulosum. The genus also includes chives: Allium tuberosum. They all share the characteristics of the garlic species to varying degrees, and apparently in proportion to how strong they smell. --- * Origin: 61 deg. 25' N / 149 deg. 40' W (1:17/75) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. But, there are things that people may say that are potentially harmful. Replies to such representations are necessary not to try to change the mind of the person who is set on believing and convincing others to their belief, but to demonstrate to those "listening" that the expressed belief is not necessarily accurate or accepted. Silence would suggest that what the person says is generally accepted. Yes. Also, apparently due to a shortage of penicillin, I understand that it was used effectively by the Russians during their war in Afghanistan to the extent that it became known as "Russian penicillin". I and others I know who have tried it have found that taking echinacea and garlic when you feel the first hint of a cold or the flu helps to avoid the cold or flu, or at least substantially decrease the severity of the disease. In this same vein, I have had boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum) recommended by an ethnobotanist who has so far always been reliable in his recommendations, and I am looking forward to growing some in my garden next summer and seeing how well it works alone and in combination with the echinacea and/or garlic. --- * Origin: 61 deg. 25' N / 149 deg. 40' W (1:17/75)
