You only need set the jumpers on the internal modem and configure it as COM4 using IRQ3. Then run your terminal software setup menu to use COM4 & IRQ3. What do you mean by "won't initialize the modem"? What response do you get, if any? You _are_ adding an character at the end of the string (usually ^M), aren't you? i.e. the string should read AT&F1&C1&D2E1V1W1X4^M Try entering the string from the terminal, and pressing at the end. The modem should respond with OK. Windows does NOT like an empty comport between used ones, and some programs also don't. It's SO simple to disable the existing Comport, AND it could save him many headaches in the future. -> You could then use either COM2 or COM4 as you please though obviously -> not both at the same time. Answers? Hy I agree with you that the CPU is not to slow. But not all transfer- protocols are made for such slow computers. You should look for a terminal which doesn't need much performance.
