Your messages have all implied that diet, etc. can prevent Down Syndrome, or several of the major complications. Diet cannot do this. However, weight control is very important because many of the Down Syndrome children have significant abnormalities of the heart. Its a shame because the people who lived here in TM> California had a very extensive system of herbal medicine - knowlege TM> which has largely been lost. Met a young lady some years back when I was working with the Homeless Project in Seattle. She had congenital weakness of the blood vessels in one side of her brain, had been operated on once at the U. of W. and was looking forward to another radical operation. I have a C.A.T. scan of the brain after the first surgery, showing a marked hole in the head. She came from the east coast originally, had been living in CA before she came to Seattle, and had met a Yaqui medicine man named "Chico" and his mother. He put her into a trance, regressed her back to the point of her conception, then brought her forward again. In this process, he taught her to use the electromagnetic energy from the portion of the brain that is not there! The Native Americans knew she would one day be operated on in this way. The U. of W. taught her to use computers to restablish neural pathways. They have been using them in their brain damage clinic there for some time. If you ever find out what is being done now along those lines, please let us know. I am convinced, after seeing this woman after her second surgery, that her case represented the best of traditional aboriginal medicine combined with avant garde Western surgery.
