But, if pot is more available...that would be a GOOD thing. It's hardly a troublesome drug at all. Actually, I'd dare say it is the best drug. It is better physically and emotionally on one than ANY other recreational drug. Better than cocaine, meth, uppers, downers, or even alcohol. NO adverse side effects, except "the munchies". The criminalization of Marijuana is the evil and wrong minded thing to do. It's illegality makes those that pursue it more exposed to other far more harmful drugs (drug dealers tend to sell more than one product) and the elitist nature of the government and the non-using communities "saving" people from themselves is first baseless and secondly hypocritical. As if prison and/or government punishment is GOOD for anyone, anyways. Of course kids shouldn't use any drugs or alcohol. But it is the job of parents to keep their children drug free...it's not MY job. Nor should adults be victims to silly and illogical laws that make a safe herb equal to heroin in the eyes of the masses. Not a "buzzword", but a fact. How do you define "opportunisitic"? Every know cellular form of life has at least one viral parasite, most have more than one. Not every virus can attack every cell; the cell has to have the appropriate protein receptor site. The virion attaches to the appropriate site. There is no "opportunity", as in attacking the cell at a weak, or unprotected, moment, which is what your statement implies. > > All true according to state-of-the-art knowledge..but where is this > knowledge getting us?....absolutely nowhere Terry. So where do we > (you) go from here? Do you seriously believe that you may someday > develop a means (other than our own immune system) of destroying > viruses? This knowledge has allowed the development of anti-viral drugs that block receptor sites, or help cells fight viral reproduction. Most viruses are easily destroyed by natural materials such as sunlight, heat, or simple chemicals such as chlorine (as a chlorite solution). We can already destroy viruses!
