Now I am certain that your information is both old and dangerous. I have no idea what you are supposedly reading as you write this sort of thing, but I advise you to either cease and desist or learn better. I can give you several methods of detoxification used in this nation today with the goal of patient safety being first. You are aware that detoxification of someone from alcohol and other drugs is potentially life threatening, are you not? One is using Vodka, used where that may be the only drug or aid available. It is used in the Alaskan bush where doctors and hospitals are a very long way off. It is possibly also the safest known method since the liver is already working on the same drug. The next would be the substitution of one or more tranquilizers for the alcohol, another sedative/hpnotic drug in decreasing amounts. This had best be done under constant medical supervision in an inpatient setting. I have done this under several different regiemes, and the most important thing is to know how to limit the amount of the drug so as not to cause respiratory problems. There are other drugs that can be used, drugs designed to assist in the detoxification of other than the sedative/hypnotics. We found that B-vitamins and calcium were essential for control of "nerves" and that giving something to calm down the stomach at times was a lot better than the tranquilers. What is really important is having someone on duty who has these and other methods to chose from, and who also knows when to use what. And that experience just doesn't come from books and data bases. It comes from being alone on a unit in the middle of the night with only whatever Higher Presence one has to draw upon in a crisis. * SLMR 2.1a * This tagline stolen by Silly Little Mail Reader! - JetMail v1.20*6 - Unregistered QWK Mail Door for Spitfire --- FreeMail 1.10 alpha-3 * Origin: PEACHY KEENO INN BBS * Tacoma,Wa * (206)539-0804 (1:138/190.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 257 ALTERN. There was a TV special on that in the past two weeks on Dateline, complete with maps of the Central American location (under Noriega, who was never brought to trial) and the California location. Left out were both Miami and Tacoma where the planes also landed. It was the Israeli intelligence who stated during Clinton's first run at the presidency that both Reagan and Bush knew all about the drug trade and that this led to North's pardon by Reagan. Clinton just applogized to the black men who were victims of a government experiment with syphillis. That went on international TV also.
