I understand this and have done so. The problem is that when you do this, Ry defaults to port 1 (as seen on the call waiting screen). Thus, if you actually DO have a node on COM1 there is still a conflict, and bleed through between nodes. Try it yourself and see. If you should do an AT&V to check your modem's profile you will see it all scrambled an incomplete. Give your modem on one of the node some commands and you will see those commands, or some scrambled rendition of them, in the other node's call waiting window. This happens even though each node is using DIFFERENT BASEADDR and IRQ# values. And of course even if one has NO nodes on the real COM1 this still happens if one has more than one node and the COM# statement is removed and replaced with the BASEADDR and IRQ# statements. GR>JH>standing node on com1, file xfers are fine, when I use a GR>JH>node other than com1, they don't work. I have tried setting GR>you are using dsz and not ryz, right? Yep. To accept the page select N from the Main menu." !!!! Say what?? When I had asked you to fix chat in the past, it was this sort of thing that I wanted to happen but was not happening. When I do a free GR>remember to take ALL references to com ports out of the startup.bbs GR>files...it's overridden by the irq and baseaddr statements. Greg, check the following out, which is what I think Jim is experiencing. Removal of the COMn setting in startup.bbs causes Ry to default to COM1 even when the BASEADDR and IRQ paramaters are in startup.bbs. I haven't checked this out in a while, but that was also my experience. Since it was some time ago when this happened to me, it's possible that ry will operate correctly using the paramaters but passes the incorrect info to DSZ, ie. COM1. I'm gonna check this out now. Ry will not run here with the following in startup.bbs: IRQ 2 BASEADDR 03E8 It will run if baseaddr is removed and COM3 is inserted. However, even though Ry runs all right then, it will pass incorrect info to DSZ if internal protocols or the QWK routine runs DSZ. External protocols will work, provided that port info is passed to DSZ via DSZ's environment variable DSZPORT and not via extdown.bbs. With the COM3 in startup.bbs, the baseaddr parameter will not be passed to DSZ, in fact portx 0000,02 was passed when com3 was specified. I wish that this could be turned off, so that Ry would not pass any port info to DSZ and the DSZ environment variable could be used. --- RyPacker v2.5a * Origin: The Right Place V.34+ DS RyBBS 201-947-8231 (1:2604/539) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: CE200000 Date: 10/01/95 From: DAVE HASSLER Time: 11:19pm \/To: ALL (Read 5 times) Subj: Deleting old msgs I'm having a problem getting either RYDELOLD 1.00 or Message Masher 2.3 to do anything.
