I provide my callers with lots of different online publications and also a daily newsfeed. For subscribers, I allow them to make a custom profile of exactly which particular newsfiles and publications they want to download daily and I have a batch file make this up for them automatically every night. So user John Smith can log on everry day and download jsmith.zip (or whatever) and it will contain ONLY those files he requested. What I would really like to do incorporate this in his qwk packet though. I'm not sure how you would identify it but maybe by his user number? So.. when he logs on and packs his qwkmail the system might look on the ..\qwkstuff directory or wherever you think is best for a file called 033.zip if he is user 33 and pack that into his qwk packet. Many of my callers are long distance and this would save them maybe a minute a day. Wheter or not they are long distance it would get them off quicker and make the system available for the next caller that much sooner. The important thing is to have the system pack up ONLY his file and not another users' file. What do you think? If this is already possible and someone out there can tell me how, please do! BTW I uploaded RYBBS80 to Genie and it's gotten 6 downloads in the last 3 weeks. Hope you get some registrations out of it! I bring in a newsfeed and lots of other online publications daily and I make available to my subscribers the option of having a custom file made up just for them with ONLY the particualr files ThEY are interested in. One guy might just get hard news stuff, another just sports or business, another some combination, etc. I just have a batch file make up each caller's file for them automatically every morning. It would be really helpful if the caller had the option to have this file packed in their qwk packet for them. Perhaps the filename could be tied to the user number and each user would have a configuration option to include or not include a personal file in their qwk packet. My batch file could still create these files daiy and place them in whatever directory Rybbs will expect them to be and use whatever filenaming convention Ry is looking for. What do you think? Please? :-) -Jim- --- SLMR 2.1a All taglines are busy..One will be with you shortly... --- RyPacker v2.7 * Origin: RyBBS HomeBase `Home of RyBBS!' I am running andoor on my board to provide my callers Internet access via a dial up SLIP account. This works fine but I also want to retrieve email for ALL of my users during a SLIP session. This is proving to be a daunting task. I have registered the domain airpower.com and my address is "jhenry@airpower.com". Apparently to retrieve email for all of my callers I need to be a SMNP (I think that's what it's called) server. My ISP is trying to help me do this but they keep hammering into me that "all the BBS vendors are going to internal SMNP support". Would you consider putting this in? Do you know of any software around that I can run with RyBBS that will allow me to act as a SMNP server? I know that I can retreive mail if I get a uucp account with someone and runs something like Waffle, UUGate, Act-Up or others. The problem is they all require a UUCP account. Well, just try to get one! I haven't yet found someone local willing to sell me a uucp account, and even if I did, then I would have to pay for two accounts, as I still need the SLIP account for the other stuff. Please help. At least consider it. The future is here now! :-) Thanks. Jim --- SLMR 2.1a The 2nd Amendment..in case the gov't forgets the 1st! --- RyPacker v2.7 * Origin: RyBBS HomeBase `Home of RyBBS!'
