(414)-962-1098 (1:154/333) There's no restriction to Rybbs using com ports other then the standard 1-4...however you just can't refer to them as anything other then com 1-com4. If you need to use something OTHER then 1-4 you'll need to use the ADDR command and the IRQ command since you can specify a non-standard com port that way. RyBBS doens't support digiboards (or any other intelligent com board) and I really have no plans for putting that capability into the system...however non-standard "dumb" multi-com boards should work just fine! On the same subject is anyone successful at starting up Ry at speeds GREATER than 19200bps? I am aware of the command line switches, except for the 16800 one. I do have callers get on at 19200 but no greater speeds than that are successful. I have BNU locking both ports at 57600. -Jim- --- RyPacker v2.5 * Origin: AirPower Home of the AIRGUN Echo 610-259-2193 (1:273/408) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: CCG00000 Date: 08/11/95 From: JIM HENRY Time: 08:49pm \/To: SYSOP (Read 6 times) Subj: msg base problem Hi Greg, I seem to have discovered a bug in RyBBS's ability to handle 500 message bases, currently the true limit may be 256. I currently carry 315 echoes/message bases and here is what the problem is: A caller logs on and get to the new message scan. All mail to the caller is flagged as it should be. The caller reads all his messages and THEN, instead of getting the prompt to "Press the Enter Key" the system continues to display messages to the caller which are NOT addressed to him but instead are every message in the Whitehouse echo which on MY system happens to be base number 256. If bases are added or removed, then it may not be the WHITEHOUSE echo but will be whatever base happens to be number 256. Additionally, if there happen to be any messages for the caller in a base AFTER base number 256, while they will indeed be flagged during the new message scan, they will not be display ed to the caller even if he is willing to read through every message in base # 256. The only way to read messages in the higher bases is to go to the message menu and manually select that base and read messages there. I don't know if I'm the only Ry sysop carrying this many conferences but if you don't understand what I'm saying here then log on to my board and you'll see what I mean.
