Ideally, using OS/2 software with OS/2 should provide much more power and features than a dos based system. However, I've been toying with AdeptX, and it appears that are quite a few bugs in the code (they're currently working on beta versions before releasing the official version 1). I've been checking Homebase lately, and working some more with Rybbs, and I just may stay with it after all. I've really got no complaints with it, just that I was looking for OS/2 software. But, as I said before, RyBBS works great with OS/2 as well. --------------- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LAST Message In Thread <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: CB^00000 Date: 07/30/95 From: DAVE HASSLER Time: 07:13pm \/To: ALL (Read 6 times) Subj: Events Okay, y'all. I'm a new RyBBS sysop and am having trouble setting up events. I want to run 2 particular events: 1) Back up message boards every night (evnt,e,42,10,back-up,03:00) 2) Poll my Fido Boss Node for a particular echo that I want to make available to my callers (evnt,e,99,10,mailtoss,03:03) The problem is my r.bat file just re-starts the BBS upon event (!). I have trapping lines in the batch file: if errorlevel 42 backup.bat -- etc. Any ideas? Your setup in events.bbs is fine, but your r.bat probably needs work. First, have your errorlevel checks branch to titles rather than run the batch file. Then under the title, run the batch file. When finished it would look something like this. --------------------- if errorlevel 42 event1 if errorlevel 99 event2 :event1 call event1.bat goto cont1 :event2 call event2.bat goto cont1 ---------------------- Also, I notice you did not mention you were calling your event batch files. When running one batch file from another, as a safe bet, always call the 2nd batch file. Hope that helps. The problem is that my system locks up quite a bit when people select the new users scan. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm using the single-node version 8.0. Also, Greg, as a suggestion (from many of my users). Make the new files scan start from the last date the user selected the new files scan (as it works on EXEC-PC), instead of the last date the user logged on. The reason is that most users do not check the file section every time they log on. Just a suggestion for new versions. --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: CC200000 Date: 07/30/95 From: AIRPOWER Time: 10:23am \/To: ALL (Read 5 times) Subj: *.msg's Hey is ANYONE besides me using Rybbs to generate *.msgs?
