They are saying JH> that Rypacker is putting an extra CR LF after the origin line that is JH> playing havoc with their systems. I believe the people complaining JH> are using Wildmail. Is Rypacker at fault? Probably, that's one of the reasons I stopped exporting RYPACKER's OUT files directly some time ago. I use Squish for all my mail handling, but whatever you use you should at least rename the OUT files to PKT and feed them to Squish (or whatever) in unsecure mode. I actually re-address them as coming from a fakenet address. This fixes any of those squeals. BTW, rypacker doesn't do a lot of things it should do. JH> On a related note, since Greg released the code last December, JH> have any of you clever programmer types tried (or considered trying) JH> to fix Rypacker for dolts like me? :-) I haven't had the time. :( --- RyPacker v2.5a * Origin: The Right Place V.34 DS RyBBS 201-947-8231 (1:2604/539) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: C4100001 Date: 03/30/95 From: BILL MITCHELL Time: 05:51pm \/To: MITCH ROSENBERG (Read 4 times) Subj: Help Extracting QWK > Does anybody out there extract QWK packs from their own RyBBS so > that > they can answer mail with an offline reader? Unless I use another system that I run as a point off my BBS, namely this one, I run Doug Miller's RyMAIL door and use QWK mail to read all my mail, I cannot remember how long it's been since I've run RyBBS in local mode except a few times to check menus. > If so, how do you extract the QWK, & how do you reload your REP > pack? I run Doug's maildoor in local mode in another window under DV. It allows you to copy the QWK packet to whatever path you want, and pretty much the opposite for uploading local REP packets. --- * Origin: V.34 @The Verplank Point Somewhere in NY/NJ (1:2604/539.11) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: C4200000 Date: 03/30/95 From: JIM HENRY Time: 07:34pm \/To: GREG RYAN (Co-Sysop)(Rcvd) (Read 4 times) Subj: new beta available Hello Greg, GR>JH>I'm running 8.04e without too much trouble but I have been having problem GR>JH>in my local net (273) and nnone of my mail is getting out. GR>Greg I have only used your internal qwk since switching from single line to RyMult about a year ago, since I could never get Doug's version to work under Rymult. I had asked you about the problem at the time and I remember you said that you were unable to run Doug's newest version, 2.80 I believe, under Rymult, but you had run the earlier versions. Frankly, if I could, I would run both and let the callers decide. There are someadvantages to each. Your version is definitely much faster. But Doug's has some advantages that yours doesn't: 1) FORCED.FIL was a file you placed in the mail door directory that would force certain areas on. It looked like this: * * * on a line would force on areas 1,4, and 6 (an asterisk in columns 1,4, and 6). 2) PREPACK.FIL with the names of certain users would prepack their mail for them during an event which would sa ve them time when they logged on. I used these 2 options and I really mis them (hint, hint!) On the plus side for your version like I said it is much faster. Greg, just for the record I use Ry's internal QWK system, however, Doug's door program provides QWK service in local mode, something Ry doesn't do, so I use Doug's old RyMAIL door for local QWK mail. --- * Origin: V.34 @The Verplank Point Somewhere in NY/NJ (1:2604/539.11) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: C4300000 Date: 04/02/95 From: DANE KNUDSON Time: 02:52pm \/To: GREG RYAN (Co-Sysop)(Rcvd) (Read 4 times) Subj: System freezes DK>Greg, when the users read the bullet(x).bbs they get to the third DK>one and the system freezes up.
