But the positions got intresting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [White "Alec,Goudreau",Canada] [Black "Johnny,Nilson",Norway] [Canada Vs Norway Postal Team Match"] [Result "0-1"] 1. e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Bc4 Qh4+ I replayed the Fischer Evans U.S. Championship Game in Franky Bradys Book and decided to try it against the Norweigan. He told me that he had played for 25 years. I was rather looking forward to the contest! 4.Kf1 d6 5.Nf3 Bg4 I went with the book recommended 5.Nf3 which it said was best over the 5.Nc3 Fischer/Evans game in Bradys Book........ 6.Nc3 Nc6 7.Bxf7+ Kxf7 This wasnt necessary but I had a impulse to sacrifice a piece and felt that I would come about even in an exchange of Queens, weaken his king and slow him down, In another Match I played against a Canadien Player from Northbay Ontario, with the same Opening I tried an early sacrifice against his King but instead of capturing the checking Bishop he just moved his King over one space and didnt bite........... (From a CC Postal Chess Match/ Alec Goudreau Vs Micheal Touw 1.e4 e5 2.f4 ef 3.Bc4 Qh4+ 4.Kf1 d5 5.Nf3 Bg4 6.Bxd5 c6 7.Bxf7+ Kd8 8.Nc3 Bc5) 8.Nxh4 Bxd1 9.Nxd1 Re8 10.d3 g5 11.Nf5 Nb4 12.Bd2 c5 13.Bxb4 cxb4 14.Kg1 d5 15.Nf2 Nf6 16.Re1 Re5 17.d4 Re6 18.e5 Nd7 19.h4 g4 20.c4 dxc4 21.Ne4 h6 22.Nfd6+ Bxd6 23.Nxd6+ The only move Black can make is with his King....... The second game of our match in this one he gets caught! [White "Johnny Nilson" Norway] [Black "Alec,Goudreau" Canada] [Canada Vs Norway Postal Team Match"] [Result "1-0"] 1. e4 c6 2.Nc3 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.d4 Nc6 5. Nf3 Nf6 6.Bd3 Bg4 7.Be3 e5 8.h3 Bxf3 9. gxf3 exd4 To capture my Bishop on f3 with His Queen (White) would have been nasty as black answers with e4 and he is forked pretty good here too. There is something instructional for Intermediates on what to watch out for in such positions. 10.Bxd4 Nxd4 11.Bb5+ Nxb5 12.Qe2+ Qe7 When i saw his 12th Move I thought he would recapture the Knight but he wasnt smarter than that because of Qa5+ 13.Nxb5 Qxe2+ 14.Kxe2 Rc8 15.c3 Bc5 16.b4 a6 17.Na3 Bb6........ And now if we examine the position White has 2 weak pawns on f3 and f2 and his Knight is stuck on a3. I was targetting the c3 pawn and planning to ring my rooks into play and castle. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS.
