------------------------ I think it will be okay, but I've crossposted this request to him just to be sure. As for my own internet address, I'm in the process of getting a new computer and will have my own www by the end of January. But as for the moment, I have no address. I'll get back to you in a couple of days and let you know what the sysop says. Cheers, Augustin~~~=== NYC, Toronto - S2STOR - S2SVCR ... I am intersted in your tag line is this some TD> sort of ship to shore E mail messaging system if so can you give me any TD> more details. ------------------------ Well, not exactly, but it is a system of sailing specific BBS's in Canada and the U.S. which forms a sailing/boating network for sailors. Here are the locations of S2S systems currently online; #### Ship to Shore OIS #### Arlington VA 703-525-1458 Boston MA 508-256-1775 Ottawa ON 613-828-4636 Moncton NB 506-386-8843 Norwalk CT 203-831-8791 San Diego CA 619-435-3187 Salt Lake City UT 801-942-7398 Toronto ON 416-975-1547 Vancouver BC 604-540-9596 Serving the Sailing Community since 1989 --------------------------------------------------------------------- These systems exchange mail with each other on a daily basis, and also pick up a bunch of other echos that have anything to do with sailing. It picked up the Coast Guard echo for quite a while, but I understand they have dropped it recently. Of course, using your laptop and cellular phone, you could turn this into a REAL "ship to shore" e-mail system! :^) Cheers, Augustin~~~=== NYC, Toronto - S2STOR - S2SVCR ... Season'e Greetings All, Well, I'm back in Lotus Land sailing in the snow! Don't know why you guys bothered to dry dock your boats this year - seems like YOU could be out sailing wearing your T-shirts! Anyway, enough whining. I had a blast in Toronto - it was good to see you guys again... although, I did notice that Minimum Billing didn't play Margaritaville, what's up? So have yourselves a great Christmas with your roast turkeys and plump puddings, and I'll be thinking of you when I'm out there sailing in Georgia Strait and reconstituting my emergency food. Hello Richard! 21 Dec 96 13:20, Richard Wheet of doubtful wisdom scribbled to Geno Dellamattia: RW> I see you've visited Texas.... it is now legal to carry a RW> concealed handgun on a sailboat (if you have a concealed weapon RW> permit - requirement is that you are no more crazy than the RW> average Texas citizen, you can shoot straight and you promise not RW> to shoot anyone unless they need it).... so.. during a close RW> race, you could in theory "cross someone's T" If you'd been 70 miles offshore in a sailboat and a large powerboat approached you without hailing or calling on VHF, you'd probably have a different view about carrying firearms on a boat. This happened to me, and since then, I've had a good long-range rifle aboard when going offshore. Incidently, the boat only needed a bearing to the Dry Tortugas, having lost their LORAN and not knowing where they were! Perhaps a warning shot across the bow would have encouraged them to pick up the VHF! Later........Sandy --- GoldED/2 2.42.G0615+ * Origin: BLUFF CITY BBS - OS/2 - Memphis, TN (1:123/70)
