The Zone 1 Backbone only carries echoes listed in the Zone 1 EchoList. It seems that the listing for this echo has expired. Thus, it will be necessary for someone to assume the moderatorship and list it if it is to remain on the Zone 1 Backbone. There is a three month grace period to accomplish this. For more information please consult these files: BOFAQxxx.TXT and ELISTxxx.ZIP, where "xxx" is the version number. They are available from most hubs or can be requested from 1:1/200, 1:1/201, 1:283/120 or 1:396/1. If you need assistance, please contact Marge Robbins, 1:283/120. My two biggest concerns with the PWCs: 1) Rarely obey no wake markers in the marina... 2) With an entire lake at their disposal.... they always end up circling the sailboats (note: a flare gun does makes a wonderful attitude adjustment ) --- * Origin: Starboard ... It is true, it was the second best day. Now I want to have another. I am looking for a MORC type boat. I would like a 26'ish dagger board trailerable racing type boat. I do want to spend some nights on board with my boys 3 1/2 and 5 years old. Bunks and a head with enough room to read and play on seems to fit the general requirements. Speed on the water is a request, but if it is close to it's rating that is ok. Ideas are welcomed and if you have "The ONE" let me know. I have seen some so far, tell me a story about what you have and begin the summer dream of 1997 and beyond. The Solarex models are roughly square, and very thin. The other panels I looked at, from Siemens and UniSolar, were not as versatile in mounting options (at least on my boat). Most of the Catalina 22's and 25's in my sailing club use the foredeck hatch to mount a solar panel since it is a sloping surface and thus you are not likely to step on or kick the panel. The only thing to be careful of is to avoid dropping whisker or spinnaker poles as this hatch is located only a few inches forward of the mast, and the butt end of a dropped pole would have a good chance of smacking into your solar panel. If any of you are mounting solar panels off of the stern pulpit, I would be interested in hearing if there are any problems with this, like interference with access to the outboard motor, swim ladder, rudder, or tiller. I have seen a kit from the local Catalina dealer, using a Siemens 20 watt panel and a pair of rail clamps to hold it to the stern pulpit, but the advantages of easy mounting and swiveling also mean that the panel is easy to steal (and boat equipment theft is a serious problem that is getting worse every year). --- HyperMail! v1.22 * Origin: Omni - (916) 388-0905, longest running Sac BBS (1:203/3333) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 254 SAILING Ref: DED00000 Date: 10/07/96 From: STRUTHER MACFARLANE Time: 10:51am \/To: AUGUSTIN HENRIQUES (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: GLOVES Augustin: AH>> Don't get me wrong Struther, I'm not agreeing with you, but the same AH>>holds for those stupid bicycle helmet laws. Depends on your needs. Personally, I like the 45 or better watt panels that are solidly build. I have a rack built between my split backstays that will hold up to 5 of them. Currently, I have only the one. It does just enough that the batteries aren't drained before firing the iron genny back up. I want to get about 3 more of them. BTW, mine has lasted 12 years and still puts out 2.5 or so amps at 12vdc in the good Florida sun!
