SW> Later........Sandy Sandy, You hit the nail right on the head, I am a permenant resident of San Diego an a member of the San Diego Yacht Club. I was able to watch the "Big Boat" defense first hand as well as keep up with the legal issue. Micheal Fay should have never taken the San Diego Yacht Club to court after they turned down the initial defense, like you said we would not have had enough time to build a boat to match the Kiwi's. It was a tragity to the spirit of the sport of yachting to have had it abused in the legal system like it did. I could have accepted an international protest commitees ruling but I belive Michael Fay showed VERY unsportmans like conduct sueing the club.. Sure we all knew what the outcome was going to be even before they raced, I am an avid muli-hull sailor and know what a catamaran can do with any wind, but we had no choice. This race also ended forever the 12 meter being the chosen boat for the AC, which is too bad, The IACC boats just are not build to handle heavy winds because they where built to sail well in the winds off Point Loma, look at the damage done to the boats last race, now picture what will happen when they are sailed in the trade winds down in NZ... --- CNet/3 * Origin: -- The Rats Den BBS 1:202/1402 (619)224-1840 (1:202/1402) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 254 SAILING Ref: DDR00004 Date: 09/21/96 From: BRENT HENDRICKS Time: 3:19am \/To: GENO DELLAMATTIA (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: SAILING On Wed 18-Sep-1996 4:50p, Geno Dellamattia said to Ryan Carson: GD> RC>For a Sailing Echo I would of expected more chat.
