You can count me out. Laughlin has a Tornado and zips around at about 15 knots. While my Martin is a fast boat, it just can't keep up. Perhaps if I catch him when there is no wind and I deem to us my motor (which I do once a summer to show all the PHRF guys that I race against that I actually have one) I know that Laughlin is a member of Queen City Yacht Club. I'll see if I can get a voice number through them.... You ever been to Pultneyville? Rouses Point(sp)? SM> etc.? SM> Wilson is approximately 10 miles due east of Youngstown; it's SM> truly a lovely little place and the people are SO friendly. Where's Youngstown? :) It isn't just Canada that I don't know very well.. :) SM> Both the Tuscarora YC & WIlson YC are there as is a State Park. SM> It's a great place to sail to just for the sake of it (about 29 SM> miles S-E of Toronto) and, as I said, the people in the town are Only 29 MILES?!? :) I thought the distance from Toronto to ANYWHERE in NY was more than that!! :) SM> really friendly... if we go up to the town to get groceries, SM> more often than not some total stranger will ask us, while we SM> are lugging our bags back to the boat, if we'd like a lift to SM> the club! What' club is that? :) SM> DK>>I have been to both too... As a matter of fact, I just went to the NY SM> side SM> DK>>Saturday for a Toastmaster's speech contest... :) It is really a SM> dumpy litt SM> DK>>place... :) The good parts there compare to the bad parts of SM> Rochester. :) SM> He he!... that's good, and quite correct; and while Niagara SM> Falls on the Candian side is so much more "alive" and so much SM> cleaner than its' American counter-part, it's got so much SM> tourist-crap (wax museums, theme parks, etc) that it cheapens Marine Land really stinks... :( Especially for the price... :) SM> the whole experience of seeing the Falls!... just seeing all SM> that water going over the edge is enough to inspire awe in any SM> intelligent person... particularly if you work for a Hydro power SM> company like Ontario Hydro....I do! :) We saw the falls, and even went over the border to see the lights on the falls at night... :) It was VERY crowded though, and the border police on the Canadian side weren't to friendly... :( DK>>> SM> Will keep an eye out for both of them if I get down that ay DK>>> SM> this year. Cool... :) I will DEFINITELY notice that... :) Be sure to have your Canadian flag up... :) SM> ...and remember, Derek - Canada is much LARGER than the United SM> States and we DO have names attached to our little settlements; SM> so stop calling anything north of the U.S. simply "Canada" and SM> take the time learn the details. Two things will happen: you'll SM> immediately impress the people on al lthose Canadian boats you SM> see in Sodus, and two - you'll feel better yourself! We don't talk to anyone in those boats. Second of all, I am WAY to busy to take time to learn something that will, most likely, do me no practical good. I know the main cities, but I will NOT learn those little ones, unless it will actually do me some good... And, Canada may be larger than the US, but there is a smaller population, colder weather(yuck), and no good Bass fishing. :) PS: look below-- don't just delete everything below... :) SM> -!- WM v3.11/93-0359 SM> - Origin: Ship to Shore, Vancouver,BC [604]540-9596 (1:153/7064) You never answered-- do you really call to Vancouver, British Columbia-- all the way across Canada just to BBS?!? --- Terminate 3.00 * Origin: Ontario, NY(near Rochester) (1:2613/128.2) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 254 SAILING Ref: D5S00000 Date: 05/21/96 From: AUGUSTIN HENRIQUES Time: 08:00pm \/To: ROBERT KITSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Yo ... what's happeni Greetings Robert, ------------------ RK> Well they say that no news is good news. Was in Montreal three days RK> last week and went right to Toy Box from the airport on Friday night. RK> Logged on at home late on Sunday ( just to see what's going on with that RK> 41.5 ' Jeanneau ......... and guess what ... no news from the man ---------------- Well this thing has been going on for over a month now. Told CIBC to take a hike, told B. of M. "I'll think about it", and now things are looking good with B. of N.S, They aren't asking for a cosigner which lets my dad off the hook :^) It appears as though my credit rating is actually very good! Must be from all those tabs I rung up at the National last year . My concern is not only with the bank, but also with the owner. He's gone ahead and accepted a deposit from someone else in case my deal falls through and has given me until tomorrow (Wednesday) to convince him this deal is good. B. of N.S. says it's good so long as I produce the paperwork they're looking for. Hope to get it all done this week, but next week is more realistic. RK> Have things pulled together ? Is there a " Jingles " somewhere in in RK> the Toronto area with your name on the registry ? Is it that because RK> you are in the 41.5' league that you don't bother with those folks who RK> only have 40 footer :-) ------------- Well, it's actually 43', but after you pass the 41 mark, you stop counting :^) I should be careful not to jump the gun, but I've considered giving my landlord a notice for the end of June. That sort of a statement from most people would mean that the deal's practically in the bag, but coming from me, it just means I'm determined.. give it a couple more weeks Cheers, Augustin~~~=== National Yacht Club, Toronto - S2STOR - S2SVCR ...
