Juno or something like that. It was an '88 - 41 feet, and the guy wanted $80K for it. Unfortunately, he never returned any calls so, so much for that! I'm still looking out in these parts but not having much luck. Odd, but it seems when you're not financially ready to plunk down bucks on a boat, you want every boat you see - but when you get the cash part sorted out and are ready to buy, you become rather picky! Have looked at a few Crown 34's, Ericson 35's, C&C's, Hunters, and am now going to check out Catalinas and yes, even Irwins! Damn it, all I want is a boat! Matter of fact, I'll be in TO April 19th to see a Whitby 45. The name is BONAVENTURE which sounds awfully familliar - do you know if it's a NYC member? Any way, glad you're all settled in with your boat... you lucky guy, and with launch only two months away :^) My offline mail reader screwed up so I can't really spend much time insulting you - the system will probably boot me off just as I get warmed up :^) TTYL Cheers, Augustin --- WM v3.11/93-0359 * Origin: Ship to Shore, Vancouver,BC [604]540-9596 (1:153/7064) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 254 SAILING Ref: D4A00001 Date: 04/05/96 From: TED FOXLEY Time: 10:35pm \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: Heading South I presently own a Nonsuch 26 and am considering taking the boat south via the ICW. I've got a year in which to make the trip from Georgian Bay to The Exumas and back. Is there anyone out there who has some tips on taking a Nonsuch south. I'd sure like to here from you. Hi, Augustin, Bonaventure is a well know name in these parts. However, I believe that it is well know for a different boat. Bernie ???? of Island Yacht Club, the owner of City Parking in Toronto, raced an IOR type C&C 54ish called Bonaventure around Toronto in the late '70's. The boat is now actively racing in Greece. I am certain of everything in this post, except any facts that I have stated. It is some where in Toronto though, and since it was my broker who tracked it down, he's the only one with the number . Wouldn't you be pleasingly jealous! :^) A 41 parked right beside your 36 with ME on deck smiling at you would just be the icing on the cake wouldn't it? Apparently, there was nothing wrong with it other than cosmetic ie: gelcoat chips every here and there. The owner had said that $12,000 would make her brand spanking new. I've got a hunch that it was probably listed in a recent GAM magazine (saw it on the broker's desk)... figure it's probably sold by now though :^(. -------------------- SM> Certainly sounds like you've been busy - except, I SM> hate to be the one to tell you this, but the "Crown" SM> is a Ford CAR (!), Augustin! --- Ooh, and here I was thinking it was a Toyota. Pat Sturgeon is the one listing it, but I wonder if it'll be worth buying then spending another $10K to ship her west. I've been realizing that Ontario boats are probably among the best deals. After all, it's a well known fact that you guys spend three quarters of the year dreaming about sailing while your boats sit on dry land A 4 year old Toronto boat is like a one year old Vancouver boat - and we use the engine quite a bit more around here too. Geez, you guys run it for 5 minutes to get out of the club and you're out there sailing! But then, once we set sail, we can go for months at a time :^). -------------------- SM> two months????? it's exactly 28 days away as I sit here SM> on the morning of Good Friday - I'm thinking of a SM> Better Friday that's 4 weeks away - May 3rd (yippee!) --- Had I known it was SO soon, I wouldn't have bothered moving to Lotus Land!
