JD>Anyone got any feedback on the pros and cons of radial tires on boat JD>trailers? I'm no expert mind you, but here's what I know. The problem with Bias tires on boat trailers is that they do not track especially well and the side walls will normally crack and leak before the tread is gone. A Radial tire can cost you more, but it has some pluses. The tire itself will last much longer than a Bias tire and your trailer will track more true behind the vehicle. --- FMail/386 1.20 * Origin: Hawk's Haven! Garland, Tx. I just put in my first tank of gas that does not have oil mixed for double oil break-in. It still seems to smoke more than it should. Is this fairly normal for this motor? --- FMail/386 1.20 * Origin: Hawk's Haven! Garland, Tx. One other little tip. JohnRude makes a fuel additive called Carbon Guard. The stuff works. BTW If I was you I would run double oil the 1st two tanks. My wish is to be able to do so without having to put anything permenent on the front cushion which runs across the complete bow of the boat. This leaves me about 10"wide x 8" long of plastic on the bow to attach any type of a holding device. We use the boat for camping over night as well as skiing and fishing. I sleep on this front cushion, so any box on it for mounting the trolling motor in the normal fashion would cramp my ability to use it for sleeping. I am looking at the MotorGuide pontoon mount motor, but can that motor be pulled up each time I move my fishing location. I have dropped Zebco an email for details on the trolling motor, but am looking for someone with first hand experience with the pontoon mount. There is also a device "Pla-trol" in the Cabele's catalog which attaches to the bow rails and the bow eye which might do the job. How strong is this off boat attachment as scooting across the lake a 40+ mph gets rather bouncy on the bow end, and would this device hold up at all? What have your experiences been?? Thanks, Joe ... I smile a lot because I have no idea what's going on! --- Blue Wave/Max v2.30 * Origin: The HUB * Austin TX * Centex PCUG * 512-346-1852 (1:382/1201) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 253 BOATING Ref: EDM00000 Date: 09/10/97 From: JOHN DUKE Time: 10:21pm \/To: JOE ZIMMERMAN (Read 0 times) Subj: trolling motors JZ+I am looking at the MotorGuide pontoon mount motor, but can that motor +be pulled up each time I move my fishing location. Most of the pontoons that I have seen on Kentucky Lake and there are a bunch just bolt a bow mount. I would have someone slot the front rim of the deck if needed.
