Can this be true? Yes Virginia, it can and probably is true. That "HP" software is actually just a hacked up version of the useless crap that comes with Win95. The best thing you can do with it is dump that drive and go to a good SCSI unit. But before you do, check the setup in the Device Manager in the Control Panel for weirdities. I've seen a couple machines where W95 incorrectly identified the bus and/or installed multiple or incorrect drivers for same. Also try turning off ALL background applications before running the compare/restore. These could be located in the directory pointed to by TMP or TEMP in autoexec.bat, in the windows directories (\os2\mdos\winos2 and \os2\mdos\winos2\system, and I've just noticed \os2\mdos\windows\temp), and finally in the ms-word directory. Just to make sure, those temporary files usually begin with a tilde ~ and have the .tmp extention. Also, I've found ms-Word v6.0 to be more stable when started from Program Manager. His configuration is: Pent 133 1.2 Giga drive formatted HPFS Ati Mag 64 PCI graphics I do have the same configuration, but the drive is 1.6 giga HPFS Larry has to run in a Dosbox, of course. Well, if DPMI_DOS_API is set to enabled: the games crashes within a few milliseconds. If DPMI_DOS_API is set to disabled, there is no crash, but no mouse eighter. We can see the mousepointer, but that's all there is. We have had migrate.exe running on it, with the same results. As I have about the same system, I 've tried here too, with _EXACTLY_ the same results. So, I am out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.
