If your ever planning to play in Canada or in Saskatchewan its a good to check this sight out and keep informed of coming avents. http://nic.net4u.nl/ New in Chess is one of my favorite sights and which I have made it a point to bookmark because of the many different links that it has and the quality of the sight. I like this one. http://sunifa3.ifsi.fra.cnr.it/scacchi.html This is an Italien E-Mail Chess Club which is new on the scene.........they have thematics, Championships, Friendly games, you name it. Scacchi is one of the most friendly I have ever played in and my opinion currently is the best Internet E-Mail Chess Clubs out there right now. Its officals are always polite to the Players and never insult them or scream at them or are biased, in there Chess rulings or chop your hand off or your head clean off during any correspondence that they write to you which may cause you to have a bad opinion about the club. They are of course strict about there rules but they always treat there Players with the highest Professionalism and respect. Another thing I must mention to you is the quality of Opponents is par excellence Players rated from 1100 to about 2500 Elo, as well the reliabuility of Opponents who are Members of Scacchi to reply on a timely basis is another factor for joining. Its not as big as IECG or IECC some of the other Mamoth Clubs but it is a great place to get a game with Opponents who play as much for the fun as much as to win. Membership is free and there are no fees to play in any of the Tournaments. In order to become a Member of the Club you have to send Internet E-Mail to the Chess Secretary and fill out a form stating your experince, elo rating (E-Mail, OTB ect) read the Faqs rules ect what Country you live ect. Then you mail off and in about a day or so you get a reply and you can join tournaments. http://www.accelnet.com/NOST Nost is another Club with Par Exellence Internet E-mail Opponents. Like Scacchi the atmosphere is very good here. Quality Tournaments and Quality officating and Opponents. When you join this U.S. Club you get the real deal. The first six Months Membership is free then there is a small fee to pay but its well worth it. From the sight you can send e-mail to the Chess Secretary view news ect............... http://www.sportsite.com/chess/ Everyone uses an alias here, watch out whos toes you step on or challenge you could end up being crushed. My Advice: Stay away from a Gentlemen who goes by the Alias of "Mr. Rook Smasher" hes really really good and I mean that. He lets you win 1 2 mabey 3 or even 4 E-mail games then all of a sudden like a Young Lion he comes alive and kicks your ass and cleans up the board. Opponents can get nasty in there e-mail but its to psyhic you out or destroy your confidence. In my Opinion this is more like a City Park where you can pick up a Chess game with just about anyone and get hussled or creamed. You dont lose any money but you do feel a bit smaller afterwords. You can pick up alot of good pointer from the nicer players on this sight whos language of choice does not begin and end with a four letter f word?! (Grin) Playing here also will toughen you up mentally and you learn how to protect yourself from Players who want to street fight.[A http://www.gambitsoft.com/ Lots of Chess Software Freeware, shareware here. Looking for Chess base utilities you can find various links to sights which support rebel software, chess assistant ect. http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~mah/ACA/ The Home Page of the Alberta Chess Association, top notch page good links to Canadien and U.S. U.S. sights. http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/TheTurk/TheTurkClient.cgi The Turk a Computer Program hooked up at the University of Alberta, if late at night you want to play a computer and not a Human Opponents its worth stopping by, the Turk they say beats about 80% of non-2000 rated players. http://www.gams.at/~saj/chess/ Yobes Chess Engine if your looking for something specific on the web this is a good search engine to use. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. They might have these What I meant was the games werent live they were taped in France and shown here probably long after the avent was over. In the credits they showed Jan Timman playing Kasparov and hesistating which move he was going to make then after a few exchanges Kasparov announced mate in 2 (They didnt show the whole game just a clip)............. The first game featured Kasparov playing the White pieces in game one and Kamsky black with a Ruy Lopez defence. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. Lasalle, Quebec, Canada (1:167/133)
