This game shows up a typical computer weakness in that they lack strategic insight into dangers present involving a king-side attack eventuating in a mating attack. The strong white moves of the game where: f2-f4/kd2/ra1/qf6. The black king caught napping on the back row with two rooks behind the lines and an open king rook and king knight file, easily obtaining an attack along the 7th rank for white. No defenders left standing and with a queen out-of-position, black was left with a hopeless game. The black move, knight takes white's black squared bishop changed the complexion of the game early on as white decided for a king-side attack along the now opened king's rook file and therefore kept his king in the middle of the board (risky strategy). Only two attackers for black both queen and bishop were little help against a rook, king and pawn defence. This is a good game to check computers with as there are a lot of mates to be found 8 moves and up in the last 25 plies of the game. A good benchmark game to check the strength of computer programs. strength of computer programs. --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: Tall Tower BBS (02) 9684-2202 (3:711/948) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 123 CHESS Ref: E5W00005 Date: 05/26/97 From: JIM HOLLISTER Time: 10:09am \/To: JASON KOZEY (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: chess game JK> does any one what to play a game of chess over mail against me.
